Hello Everyone,

What can you say about Washington at this point. In my opinion, this team is what its record & games say they are. They are a solid football team, who can beat up on the bad teams in the league, but can't at this point compete with some of the elite teams in the NFL, such as Pittsburgh and the New York Giants.

The problems on this team start on the offensive and defensive lines, but they need some more play makers on offense besides Clinton Portis and Santana Moss. The lack of a large, across the middle #2 receiver right now is really hindering this team in the red zone. If teams can stop Clinton Portis, they can hold the Redskins to next to nothing. Its still too early to tell if the rookie receivers will be good long term, but its dissapointing to see rookie receivers having an impact elsewhere, and the receivers in Washington struggling to see the field in some cases.

As far as Jason Campbell goes, there are some things that are on him, as he is missing open receivers on some plays, but you can't put the blame on this kid as we've seen some people do this week. The offensive struggles are a combination of just about everybody. Portis and Moss are doing all that they can, but when all the defensive scheme comes down to stopping Portis, Moss and Cooley, its much easier to game plan. The offensive line is really struggling as well, so its tough to get much of a game plan going at all when you're offensive line isn't playing well.

The defensive line and pass rush is whats most concerning to me. The lack of attention that this position has gotten so little attention from the Redskins front office the past few years, has been mind boggling. There were some serious free agents last year, including Kris Jenkins who might be the defensive player of the year with the Jets, who was not even talked about with the Skins'. Jason Taylor has been very disappointing as well, I knew he would struggle a little bit more in the NFC because of his lack of size. I think we will end up seeing the Redskins move him to more of an outside linebacker to try to allow him to rush a little more...but right now teams are running right at him. The defensive line and pass rush has to be addressed if the franchise wants to be elite at any point.

Finally, the Redskins still find themselves in the middle of a playoff race, at 7-5 and trailing the Cowboys and Falcons by a game. The Skins' still have a very good shot of making the post season, in my opinion. The Cowboys have such a hard schedule down the stretch, I don't know if I see them winning more than two games. The Falcons have games against New Orleans, Minnesota and Tampa Bay which could go either way as well. The Redskins have a good opportunity, but will probably have to beat Baltimore this Sunday to have a realistic shot. 3-1 is the absolute worst this team can go to still have a shot, but they may even have to go 4-0.
