As you said it will kill the smaller market teams. I'd hate to see the NFL turn into MLB.
Personally I don't think we'll see it happen though. The NFL has done a great job at maintaining labor peace since 1987. | That's my whole gripe with it. We have the cap for that reason, so that a team with a hyper rich/obsessed owner can't go out and buy the damn league. I really hope this doesn't come to frutition because IMO, it cant mean ANYTHING but bad for the NFL.
Plus, MLB sucks. Hard.
