Master4Caster 01-15-2006, 01:50 PM I have been reading some posts on this and other forums since our loss today and am appalled by the ideas expressed.
H4172teh5k1n5, I don't know how to pronounce your name :cheeky-sm , but I agree with everything you said.
I read one post where someone wrote they "hated" Taylor Jacobs. That was way over the top. The guy couldn't cut it on the field, but he was trying. Hate? Really?
What coach are you going to get that's better than Joe Gibbs?
What quarterback on our roster was available and better than Mark Brunell; and who knew that better than Joe Gibbs?
Who knew Santana Moss was going to fit this offense better than Joe Gibbs?
Could we have made a late season run without Clinton Portis?
I'm old enough to remember the Redskins when they really were the deadskins. When George Izo (http://www.sportscolumn.com/story/2004/9/24/14489/7574) and Norman Snead was throwing to Bobby Mitchell. That combo made a few exciting plays for a really bad team. When Jurgensen got here and tossed it to Mitchell and Charley Taylor, they became an exciting offense on a really bad team. Our 2006 Redskins had the best season you can have without getting to the Super Bowl and I thank all of them, even Taylor Jacobs, for the thrilling ride.
BrudLee 01-15-2006, 02:03 PM I blame my Son Elijah and may try my first human sacrifice to make things right with the Football Gods.
He picked up his Yellow Skins Towel from where it had helped us win for 6 straight games. Last night he wore it on his head breaking or winning streak.
Hang'ns too good for him!
After your son's service for our country, I'm willing to cut him some slack.
30 days in the stockade. ;)
Sammy Baugh Fan 01-15-2006, 02:07 PM Different kid.
This is a college student costing me money and eating all my food when he brings his buddies over for the games.
lol
It was great to have Tony home with his Portis Jersey on and Skins hat laying on the floor in front of the TV and not half a world away.
Kids are great at all ages. Enjoy and hug'm!
Daryl Elite 01-15-2006, 02:18 PM I watched the game at my grandma's house instead of at home. It's my fault, guys.

DAMN YOU!
DAMN YOU TO HELL!

I have been reading some posts on this and other forums since our loss today and am appalled by the ideas expressed. I can't believe what I'm reading. Coach Gibbs should "give up his clipboard". Portis was a bad trade. We lost, get over it. We got farther than a lot of us thought we would this year. Seriously, did you really think that we would be Super Bowl contenders in the first 2 years? Really? Next year we will have our shot (or should). I said that from the day I heard Gibbs was coming back. We have improved a little every year and will be back to full strength next year after a season of crippling injuries. When we lost Patten, we took a big hit. After he left, we had no #2 WR (other than Cooley). And yet Gibbs still took us to the playoffs. Brunell showed us that he still had life in him after some of us booed him off the field last year. I think that he may be done after this season (he's not getting any younger) and the jury is still out on Cambel, but Gibbs and Williams will find a way to get us there. We don't have the biggest superstars or the best athletes, (and one we do have we might lose to jail). Look at the positive. We made it to the playoffs. That's nothing to sneeze at considering our last decade (and then some) of football. the fact that some of you are talking trash about the players and the coaching staff after the injuries we suffered this year pisses me off. I'm ashamed to call you fellow "fans" (if that's what you call yourselves). I would hate to think that some members on this board are fair-weather. Talking about how much you like this player or this coach one week and then the next talking like they ruined our whole season. We got beat. Not necessarily by a better team, but by a team who had a better game than us. Once we find our #2 receiver (be that Patten or someone else) and a consistent QB, we will be the team to beat in the NFC. Until then I will continue to cheer as loud as I can for my team, good, bad, or ugly.
Beautifully done!
For those of you that cannot see the wisdom and righteousness of this post, I will pray for you! I will pray for you every day! I will pray that you................... USELESS, IGNORANT, MF's to find someplace else to spread your mindless hate and discontent, because I personally have NO use for you HERE!!!!!!!!! And don't forget to smell the roses..............
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 01-15-2006, 02:48 PM What I love about this site is that most posters are capable of intelligently debating things. Unlike some other unnamed websites, we are not controlled by anyone and we do not simply tag Snyder's line. We love the Redskins and are always willing to stick by them, but we don't debate like immature 5 year olds who name call. We differentiate ourselves from Philly fans.
Unfortunately, I have been absolutely blasted by people for saying that our offense has had problems lately. I have also said numerous times what a great season this was etc. I have had to repeatedly justify my opinions about our offense to those who are either totally unfamiliar with my own take on the team (which is overwhelmingly positive) or who are simply choosing to ignore my other posts.
Frankly, I'm tired of justifying my opinions. If you disagree with my posts, that is fine. I encourage healthy debate. But, please don't sully this site's, or your own, reputation by resorting to name-calling.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 01-15-2006, 03:04 PM Contrary to what the original post intimated, I don't think anyone has been calling for Gibbs' head. I think it is unanimous that he did a fantastic job this season. So, let's not overstate things.
Also, since people have pegged me as the "pessimist," I suggest you read some of my posts from earlier in the season when we weren't winning.

Funbunchfan 01-15-2006, 03:10 PM It's my wife's fault she washed my jersey and moved my shrine which wasn't washed or moved since the streak began. My appologies to all of you. She caught a beating for it though.( just kidding about beating)
Prop13 01-15-2006, 03:11 PM "When we lost Patten, we took a big hit."
I'm not so sure Patten was the answer either. Patten may be a legitimate slot. We need another receiver, what Moss did by himself is all the more impressive considering that he did it by himself. We got by without a legitimate threat on one end of the defensive line too. We got by without much depth on the offensive line.
...but we didn't just get by--we got to the playoffs. ...and that's largely because of coaching. Any Redskin Fan that doesn't see the incredible job Gibbs did this year just isn't lookin'. The difference is character, and Gibbs has it comin' out his ears. Look at the teams who made legitimate runs this year--all character teams, all with character coaches. As of a couple of days ago, there were ten teams lookin' for coaches--all ten of those teams will start next season two years behind us, at best. ...and if they're not character guys, they're not legitimate contenders. Gibbs should hang up his clipboard? ...That's nuts!
Home field advantage means so much in the playoffs. If a couple of plays had gone the other way this season, we'd have played yesterday's game at home. Those plays will go our way next season. Over sixteen games, coaching is the difference. ...Joe Gibbs is the difference between how far we got without him, and what we did this year. ...and we've got Williams back for next year too!
I think the expectations of anyone who thought we'd go farther this year were unrealistic. Playoff losses hurt much worse when you think you're only gonna get a shot once every ten years, but I remember when any year we didn't make the playoffs was considered a failure. ...I look at where the team is now, and I think those days are right around the corner again.
I remember, when I was a wee fan, when we really were hopeless losers. Being a 'skins fan back then meant cryin' tough, and stickin' with the bandwagon even when the parade was over. That ethic was exemplified by people like Sonny Jurgensen. I always figured if I had a son, I'd name him Sonny Jurgensen Shultz.
....but Joe Gibbs Shultz kinda has a nice ring to it too! We don't have to cry tough. We don't have to cry at all, 'cause I don't think this parade's over yet. I think it's just gettin' warmed up.
