I know it is easy to pick on Brown but....
If he doesn't run that kick back people would be calling for Gibbs to retire.

Why is Jerry Jones wearing the same outfit as the coaches? Was he planning on working with the backup quarterbacks or something? Have some dignity and lose the coulats. This is true, that was one of the instances where he returned the ball with a lot of confidence. I really and truly believe it's a mental block. Everyone knows how to run under a punt, that's not hard to do physically speaking. It's all in your head, you have to be willing to ignore the oncoming freight trains that are looking to level you. You have to focus. If you're scared and intimidated, you're going to have trouble and that's what appears to be his problem to me. Especially on punts, he's just indecisive and afraid to run forward, so we get a lot of the dancing around. Dirtbag 01-29-2006, 01:32 AM ...when fielding punts he acts like a squirrel caught in the middle of the street who can't decide which way to run. That's a great line, and it sums up his weakness completely. wolfeskins 01-29-2006, 01:27 PM Who gives a sh*t what Parcells says about anything? http://www.sportalicious.com/Images/queeereyeparcells.jpg Brokeback mountain thats pretty funny.:laughing2 dmek25 01-30-2006, 07:47 AM brown seems to be better suited to return kickoffs.i think the reason you saw so much uncertainity out of him on punt returns that he was getting hang on to the ball drilled into his head, that he wasnt able to just react and try to make a play SKINSDUDE 01-31-2006, 12:23 AM Well I hope he learns something while he's there. I was upset when he fumbled in that game early in the season. I was so happy that they cut him, but when they brought him back I questioned the decision. He just didn't seem to have his head in the game. I was glad he had a few highlights, but I think they should stick with Betts. sportscurmudgeon 02-01-2006, 07:18 PM Antonio Brown needs this NFLE experience and whatever he can get in the way of coaching over there. At the moment, Antonio Brown is today's version of Cliff Russell - - he can run faster than just about anyone in the league AND he can't catch a cold. Russell hung on for 3 years or so because he was so damned fast that coaches could not believe that they couldn't teach him something simple like catching a football. After all, you can teach a 7-year old how to do that, no? But Russell never learned and now he's off to some other career. Antonio Brown needs to improve about as much as Cliff Russell needed to improve; Brown's hands are substandard for an Ivy League wide receiver. But he can run - very, very fast. And so he has an opportunity in NFLE this spring and will get a lot of tutelage in minicamp and traiing camp and ... The bottom line is simple: Can he be taught how to catch a football reliably? Cliff Russell couldn't. gibbsisgod 02-01-2006, 08:01 PM Antonio Brown needs this NFLE experience and whatever he can get in the way of coaching over there. Cliff Russell couldn't.Its been said that speed will get you on the feild but it wont keep you there if you cant catch and brown is proof of that. if he cares about his nfl career than he will work hard on his hands this year |
