Superbowl Memories Anyone? He had a great career at Alabama and a good one in the NFL. Theres not a corner in the league that could have tackled Riggins on that play. Skins_4_Lyfe 02-02-2006, 03:55 PM It's gotta be Williams 35 points in like 8 plays. CrazyCanuck 02-02-2006, 04:39 PM SB XVII - I remember I had a hockey game that day. I wasn't happy. Luckily they played the bowl over the loudspeaker. So I kept one eye on the puck and one ear on the radio. I remember feeling sick when Fulton Walker returned that kick. Luckily I was able to make it home in time for most of the 2nd half, including the greatest 43-yd run ever! SB XVIII - I still have painful memories of this one. The 83 Skins were the best team I've ever seen. I was so excited for this game...then we ran that screen play. SB XXII - Like most of you I was not happy with where this game was heading. Then long bombs started raining from the sky. SB XXVI - I remember Thomas losing his helmet and the rest is beautiful history. Daseal 02-02-2006, 06:08 PM The SuperBowl we played the bills I was a little kid. Went to a Super Bowl party with my parents, talked 5 bucks out of my mom for the pool. Hit the score on the head, walked home with 350. That buys a lot of candy... gibbsmeatitle 02-04-2006, 12:41 AM Don't post much, but this thread was too good to pass up. SB VII - Was six, but remember it like yesterday. Darn goal post. SB XVII - Dad bought me and my bro tickets to the game. Sent us to L.A. to stay with my Aunt. The next day was the game and we scalped some better tickets for $10 a piece. Unfortunately we were on the Miami side. Got pelted with peanuts and splashed with beer the whole evening, but we got the last laugh. Oh yeah, we almost got jumped when we left the stadium and were almost run over by a Miami Dolphins limo. Skins fans had our backs, however. When we came back to D.C. we were interviewed on t.v. The coolest memory I have, however, was the next day on the old show "Redskins Sideline" with Glenn Brenner (G-d rest his soul) and Frank Herzog (if I remember straight). Riggo showed up soused out of his mind in coat-and-tails. Pretty darn cool. SB XVIII - Only thing worse than the game was....wait a second....there wasn't anything worse. Don't know how we could have taken the game so lightly given the earlier slugfest we had with the Raiders that season. SB XXII - Watched it at the folks with a friend from college. Don't remember his name, but I remember the buttocks whoopin we put on the ponies. Thank goodness we didn't put in Schroeder. SB XXVI - Home again with the folks. First play of the second quarter (or near abouts) Kurt G. ices it. Sweeet... That's all from Tucson, AZ. Peace and many future Redskins victories! SmootSmack 02-04-2006, 12:46 AM Here's a question for you guys. If the 1983 team had won the Super Bowl, would you rank them ahead of the 1991 team? I'd probably say yes And (bonus question) if the 1983 team had won the Super Bowl where do you think that team would rank of all-time greatest teams in NFL history? Dirtbag 02-04-2006, 01:32 PM I think you mean Doug Williams' beautiful, record-breaking 2nd quarter (not third) Was it against us that Thurman Thomas couldn't find his helmet? I think so, right? Yep! Thurman missed the first drive of the game because he'd lost his helmet. They showed him looking under all the benches on the sideline, frantically trying to find it, during the opening moments of the game. Classic... Dirtbag 02-04-2006, 01:33 PM Here's a question for you guys. If the 1983 team had won the Super Bowl, would you rank them ahead of the 1991 team? I'd probably say yes And (bonus question) if the 1983 team had won the Super Bowl where do you think that team would rank of all-time greatest teams in NFL history? 1) Yes, by a little bit. Both teams were downright terrifying. 2) Honestly, tied for number 1 with the 15-1 San Francisco 49ers champion team. wheeler 02-04-2006, 04:58 PM http://www.redskins.com/images/team/RigginsSB.jpg XVII As much as I love Riggins I dont really remember that superbowl, I was 6. I've seen the highlights a million times and love all of em. I know for a fact that I watched it I just think it was to long ago. PTI just mentioned that this happened 22 years ago today (1.30.5) Happy Anniversary. http://www.redskins.com/images/team/WilliamsSB.jpg XXII I remember Williams beautiful record breaking second quarter. http://www.redskins.com/images/team/RypienSB.jpg XXVII I remember Rypien terroriizing the Bills. For some reason my friends and I called Jim Kelly a wet chicken during that game. My dad went out and bought a new tv. Any of you guys have any thought or memories to share on our superbowl victories? From redskins.com heres the history (http://www.redskins.com/team/history-super.jsp#XVII) .i attended superbowl XXII with my brother i was getting married and he wanted to give me a present i wouldn't forget boy was he right.also my daughters were born in the super -bowl years at superbowls XXII AND XXVI.Of course they weren't born at the games just the years of the games.they are my pride and joy just as the redskins are .But if i have to squirt life again for the skins to make it back to the super -bowl it may be a long wait. |
