I think it was basically just his attitude. Or, better said, his performance on the field wasn't enough to negate his lazy attitude off the field.

Well Williams "sorta" got hurt the following season running on a treadmill or something...and never really made it back to his Super Bowl form.

In fact, I don't even remember him playing the next season.

I think he had appendicitis at the start of the 1988 season and missed several games as a result

That may have been the case, but I do remember he tweaked his knee in the offseason and later got into this thing with the Redskins.

Yep..that's true. Wasn't that Rypien's rookie season?

Gosh, I do! Man...I couldn't believe how far he fell! It seemed like he had no touch on the ball whatsoever! I seemed to remember him looking pretty bad on the field...except for a decent game or two.....

Ok, its off season and we are looking for something to do waiting for the present Redskins to take their next actions. How about looking for TIMMY SMITH and inviting him to this website to tell us what he remembers about his experiences; I for one would have been happy with my entire life if I could have rushed for 205 yards in a Skins win in a SB. IDEAS?

PILE ON......

It was a short career, but what a record to be remembered for.

I have not kept up with him over the years, but have marveled at what a performance he had in the bowl and his inability to make subsequent teams. What a shame. he may have had the biggest fall for a player one year to the next of all time. that's gotta' be a thread this offseason!

I remember him hurting his knee and never getting back on track after that.I remember watching those playoffs and the SB and i was tickled pink that Smith was starting, from watching him in the playoffs leading up to the sb it was evident to me that he had the speed that rogers was lacking,I was screaming at the tv for Gibbs to give him more carries,I'm glad he started the sb over Rogers
