My link... it not saying anything but that its exspected that Jets will franchise him. But I could see this situation turning out like this because

A: It was rumored on ESPN that there was going to be a trade Ramsey for Abraham earlier in the season.

B: The deal could happen, it would be like the Champ for Portis deal. Numbers can always be worked out to fit under the cap.

C: Why would the jets do it?~ To get something for a person they would otherwise just lose for nothing in the offseason.

same as we did with coles.. get something for ramsey because we will get nothing for him after next year.

In addition to the fact that Pennington is a huge question mark for this season and, basically, the rest of his career. Some experts are saying that his arm will never be as strong as it once was, others are saying it will take a very long time (more than one season or two) to get back to normal. So, Patrick Ramsey is not only a good short term option, but could also prove to be the long term solution. You never really know, Ramsey could have a great season and supplant Pennington or he could have a mediocre season and then be replaced by him. I think the deal would make since from the Jets standpoint because I heard a NY writer on Sirius saying there's no way they can pick at #5 and keep Abraham, they have to unload one or the other.

your last sentence is really key.. they could trade down and get more picks and still have a shot at cutler.. or they could trade down further and get a whole lot more picks and add ramsey solving the qb situation. either way, the cost of signing those picks would be less than a number 5 overall pick

Cool! Thanks Matty! Abraham has been rummored to be moving, and the B&G are one of the prospective teams he might move to.

PRam may be on his way out, but not for nothing. I kind of like what diehardskin2982 had to say:

DaBoyz, here's some FB for you! We swept DaBrokebackBoyz, and the E-girls this year, went 5-1 in the NFC East, and we expect to do the same or better in '06!

Oh, and who did ya'll beat in the Playoffs this past ye........... Ohhhh, my bad! Ya'll didn't quite make it to any playoffs, did you!

And just where was your team when the Redskins won their First NFL Championship in the '30s?

I gotta disagree, I think that DE should be the #1 priority. I think Patten will be fine if he and Brunell get together and develop some chemistry. I think depth at WR is the issue. I think this team needs a new starter at RE and we should move Daniels to LE. Wynn just isn't a very good football player, I think he's a great guy and he like his versatility, I just don't think he's a starter in these league.

If the Skins had a legit threat at DE the D would be insane. I think the offense should be concerned with getting more #3 and #4 wide receiver types. Possibly, a big, possession receiver, if they come cheap, but IMO DE is a far greater concern.

what failed us and caused our season to end? a better DE might help, but the defense played balls out at the end and offense died a horrible death.

getting JA would let us focus our attention on getting a good wideout in the draft. Also I heard on Fox Sports Radio an scout could see us take either Koren Robinson or nate burleson

I agree that the WR were bad, however, I think if Patten hadn't gotten hurt they would have been fine. I don't think that a legit #2 is that important because I think we already have one. We do need more depth at WR, but I'm not of the opinion that it's as big of a need as everyone else. I think we should focus on getting a big, possession type guy to be the #3 wide out on this team, or possibly push Patten, but I don't think that it's the biggest hole. I definitely disagree that O Line depth is a bigger hole than DE.

I do think that the WR corps needs to be upgraded, but I don't think that we need a new starter. The Skins have needed a legit pass rusher for like a damn decade now, but they never pick that up.

As for what ended the season? That's debatable. The most glaring problem was the offense and the passing game. But Brunell was obviously banged up and was very ineffective. I'm not saying he should be replaced, or anything like that, but what I am saying is that the last few games would have looked much different if Brunell were healthy. I think if Brunell and Patten can develop a chemistry like he has with Moss and Cooley that there's no need to go out and spend a lot of dough on a #2 wide out. I think better depth is all we need.

John Abraham will be franchised by the Jets on Feb. 23 and then will be traded to the Redskins for Patrick Ramsey or Lavar Arrington straight up. We have been tade partners with the Jets before and I can see the same thing happening again.

There is no chance that they will trade Arrington this year. They can't take the cap hit. Ramsey is a possibility because he is pretty cap friendly but how would they pay Abraham who definitely wants a big payday?

I agree LA will be much improved next season, considering the direction the team is going, I think he will want to be here. Therefore I believe he will restructure his contract to give the skins much needed cap relief, and he will be a consistant part of our TEAM as well as help leading our defense to a top 3 defense in the league.

i hope everything you wrote right there comes true .

i would take abrahams as long as he plays the good soldier.lavar needs to stay(as long as he wants to be a redskin)and ramsey isnt leaving unless mr campbell is ready to go.no way coach goes into the season without a quality backup

The great thing about GW is that you don't need a bunch of big name superstars for the defense to shine. He can take undrafted FAs and get great production. My question is, if we get another team to accept a Lavar trade, do they assume the cap hit? Do we clear our books of him, or do we still bear some of the burden?

If we're off the hook for his cap hit in a trade scenario, we would be better off accepting draft picks or Special Teamers.
