Williams, its in his contract

its not in his contract. It says if he's not named the next head coach, he gets
1 million dollars.

saunders has the leadership qualities of wet cardboard. He one of those great OCs, terrible HC guys. Williams on the other hand (though gruff) has leadership, and with a good OC could do well... he also seems to be good at talent evaluation.

I dont want to even think about him leaving. I hope he coaches till he is 100. I mean I am still at awe that he is back.

I don't know about that. I think that he gets 1 million if he is not chosen.

Williams, its in his contract

that'd be illegal ;) the option bonus just shows that he's the preferred candidate.

Let's just enjoy Joe while he's here. He has 3 more years on his contract which I believe he will fulfill. Then, it will be Gregg Williams' team. Until then, let's win 3 in a row, baby!

What is good about this situation is - Gibbs has the time to prep someone to take over for him after he quits coaching and probably becomes solely team president. But he may have a hard decision in Saunders/Williams. Saunders is basically a guy that gibbs thought was the best coach out there that came the closest to a clone of himself from an offensive strategic standpoint, but he appears to lack something (what it is I don't know for sure). Gregg Williams has been good as a defensive coordinator/head coach for defense (or whatever his official title is), but hasn't proven to be a great head coach when he was given his chance.

But if the choice had to made now, it would have to be Gregg Williams mainly because he has been with the redskins for 2 years now and the advantages that come with that fact.

Did I miss the memo about HOF Coach Gibbs re-retirement?

GW had limited personnel and staffing budgets in buffalo... those don't exist here. he has a great defense, but no one to help him get the offense working. He does have the leadership and he's a good judge of player talent.

Watch a saunders interview and you'll see what he lacks. he's totally uninspiring and you'll be put to sleep REAL fast. he speaks really softly and almost mumbles at times, and he has a hard time relating to people cause he's an X's and O's geek and just likes playing with scheme and numbers more than dealing with people. He's truly a great coordinator though, but i just can't see him being a great head coach.
