LB Thomas Howard (http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/olb/thomashoward.html)...his best 40-time is a 4.38, thats crazy for a linebacker. I'm not sure if he'll make an immediate impact, but few second rounders do.

a lot of 2nd rounders can make an immediate impact ;) especially OG/C since almost none get drafted in the 1st (blocking TEs too).

in the 5th there a brandon johnson who's the same thing... great numbers, but a project at LB.

Jimmy Contrell !!! I got to see him play here at NMSU and he's a monster. Named to the All WAC Team at LB. He would be a great pick up in the 6th or 7th round. Nose for the ball. Gibbs I'm tellin you draft this guy, lol.

Jimmy Cottrell.
his problem is mainly that he's a one year starter that played on a 0-12 team.
6'0" 238lbs, 4.86 40, 189takles (90solo) 8 for loss (inc 2 sacks), 4 PD

4.86 is probably too slow for OLB, and i doubt he'd be able to make the calls in his first year, but as an undrafted, you never really project him as a starter anyways.

projected to go undrafted, would be worth a look in camp.

For the day one pick, how about Abdul Hodge, the MLB from Iowa. I always thought Marshall was a better OLB. Of course if Max Jean-Gilles is still there, you gotta take him because he can play either guard or tackle.

Here is my two cents: Now some players may or may not drop as we know, so I did this with some players I'd like to see us draft if they slip:

Fallen Player Hopefuls:
2- Max-Jean Gilles (very unlikely)-ol
J. Joseph (although I'd perfer A. Cromartie, he's just rated higer)-cb
Antinio Cromartie (crossing my fingers, but gone prob)-cb
Demeco Ryans (prob gone)-olb
2- Slotted For Round:
Thomas Howard-olb
Bobby Carpenter-olb
Kelly Jennings-cb
Daniel Manning-cb
Jon Alston-olb
Ashton Youboty (prob gne)-cb
Dion Byrum-cb
Richard Marshal-cb
Dee Webb-cb
Nick Mangold-c
5-Fallen Player Hopefuls:
Roger Mcintosh-olb
C. Chester-ol
Jason Spitz(prob gone)-ol
Marcus Maxey-cb
Gerrick Mcphereson-cb
Will Blackmon-cb
5-Slotted For Round:
Brandon Johnson-olb
Kevin Booth-ol(project)
Leon Williams-ilb
Willie Andrews-s
Ruben Houston(issues..caught w/110 Lbs of weed on campus,maybe not)cb
Justin Wyatt-cb
Marcus Hudson-s
6-Mike Degory-c(need a center, he's durable and solid)
6-Ingle Martin-qb/punter(ol' spurrier made him a punter when at uf)
6-John Thorpe-p
7-Deouzon Quillen-wr
7-Will Montgomery-c or Jarvis Herring-s////
As you see, cb's, olb's, and o linemen is the target. Most of us seem to agree on positions when it comes to needs. The rest of FA just lets us know which position takes top priority in the draft!!! Time to break up TO and dem Boys! Well!! Good Night/Morning everyone...from tha club to da board!!

dion is a 5th rounder, not a 2nd rounder ;) blackmon probably goes in the 3rd-4th.
max gean is really slow, so davin joseph or charles spencer (one of which will be there) might be better since they could eventually replace dockery and provide quality pulling from the left side.

spitz and chester are both probably gone in the 3rd. chester could also play TE while on the bench. alston is closer to a 3rd rounder, so probably not the greatest value, but i like him too.

JJ and AC (cbs) may both go in the first, or may both fall into the 2nd... both are high quality talents though. cromartie (even with the injury) may have top 2 DB talent in this draft.

pretty good list ;) 4 years from now we can compare and see if any of these guys actually pan out.

early 6th (jetss - for patrick ramsey)
6th (panthers - for rod gardner)
7th (comp pick, for losing 2 FAs (smoot/pierce) and getting two much cheaper FAs (patten rabach) in the same year... the value difference should create a 7th round pick).

I wonder how much of a difference it would have been had Smoot and Pierce not missed a combined 8 games.

probably not a big difference (patten did end up on IR, missing 7 reg season and 2 post sseason games). The only REALLY important factor is number lost and number gained. Contract size and performance are secondary concerns.
