What's bluetooth all about?

Usually I'm pretty tech savvy but what the hell is this bluetooth stuff all about??

It's about power. It's about freedom...I think it's some sort of technology that streamlines the process of connecting things wirelessly, or something like that.

short range, low power wireless. used for transferring things between pdas/cell phones/etc without completely killing their battery life for applications where short range and lower bandwidth requirements are fine.
