I am not sold on Archuleta either.
Having said that though, GW obviously asked to upgrade the SS position. Some of you might feel Ryan Clark did a good job but GW obvioulsy did not feel the same way. GW is the coach and he knows best.
I personally wanted to upgrade the SS positon since we got Sean Taylor. Clark is an average, one dimensional coverage guy. Clark was flattened on a few running plays last year and is not much of a blitz person. I think GW sees that as a liability at SS. I know this will piss some people off, but I was not thrilled with Clark. He was stop gap guy until we found a star SS. I am not sure Archuleta is the player I would have picked.

We need to break the habit of being happy with a mediocre player just because we get by with them or because he is a nice guy and everybody likes him.
D. Dockery falls into this category, if Dockery does not play up to his potential this year we shoud look to replace him next year.

GW is really high on AA, so that's all I need to know. He could really blow up in this defense.

I know there are a legion of Ryan Clark fans, he's a pretty decent player but AA's upside is much, much higher.

Man, you hit the nail on the head with that one. Amazingly, Taylor Jacobs has the same type of following.

And I hear what you're saying about Dockery, too. Many times, the guard position just isn't very glamorous. They get the most attention when they're able to pull and get some good speed around the end, but Dockery's not exactly known for that. At times, about the only thing you can say for him is that he plays left guard. That's it. There's really nothing special about him. But maybe he's just one of those unsung heroes that does his job, and the only time you know you miss him is when he's gone.

I'm willing to cut Dockery some more slack. As was the case with Ed Simmons if you remember, it can take several seasons for some O-linemen to make a name for themselves.

Randel El. 31 million for that guy is a bit too much. plus w/ Moss, Lloyd, Patten, cooley, Portis, I think you have enough options. Arch, Carter, were definate needs. Arch gives us better support on the run and pass that clark. clark was a gamer, but lets face it, arch is a huge upgrade. Carter, SACKS!!!!! all that needs to be said there.

Arch, big contract, injury issues, we had a guy like him that wasn't all that great. El might also be a mistake (not in talent, but contract size), but if we're going 3WR base, its not a bad move.

I went with Randall El, He's obviously talented but I think we could have drafted similar, it will be tough to keep all these recivers happy this season.

I have alway's liked AA, and considering the uncertainty of Taylors status I think it was a good signing, although I also felt Clark could more than handle the job, I do look for AA to become an elite safety under GW.

After seeing film on him I defiently like the Lloydd trade.

I was opposed to the Randle-El signing from the get-go so that's my vote. I never would have guessed that they would have signed two receivers, though. Adding Lloyd as well makes it make more sense. My question is, if you could only have one of the two between Lloyd and Randle, which would you pick? I'll take LLoyd.

Adam A., all we need is a overrated SS, he has a career high 3 ints, and not because he's feared,...just no hands and I believe john lynch is the last of the good white safteys in the league......i would rather traded for a # of safteys in the league, than pay him the richest contract for a Saftey in History..........

Damn ST. Why go there? What does Arch being white have to do with anything? The guy is a banger even if he has lead hands. He'll be in the SS position, so his job is more run support than looking for that glider hanging out there for the taking. He's white. Get over it.

I have no quarrel with any of this year's moves. If I were GM, I would have tried a lot harder to keep Antonio Pierce on our roster last year.
