So basically what you're saying is that you have no evidence, nor do you even have a shred of an indication that the results were doctored to produce a close vote. What you do have is your own suspicion of the TV producers because you think they're interested in creating drama for next week.
Yeah dmek, I'm sure the producers doctored the vote, it just couldn't be possible that the contestants really were that close in talent. Talk about jumping to conclusions, dude you have NO basis whatsoever.
As for Taylor's range, you obviously didn't hear his falsetto on Tuesday night. That was pretty high.
TheMalcolmConnection 05-18-2006, 09:56 AM I disagree that Katherine would sell less records. Granted, she's obviously the least talent of the final four that were there, but she's cookie cutter pop and we all know that's what sells records. People like Clay Aiken have cult followings (however homosexual they might be) but they don't sell a huge amount of records. The pop princesses, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the ones who are blowing up.

Whether you like Clarkson or not she is at least a very good singer adn performer. Underwood is totally cookie cutter though. Clarkson is relatively unique in how good she really is.

Well, I think Kelly was a cookie cutter pop princess while she was on Idol. She was singing ballads and such. But she's changed her style now, she's got a rock edge to her. Her first album, which had her doing the cookie cutter pop stuff, sold 3 million copies (on the heels of her Idol fan base). But her new album sold 10 million copies because she reinvented herself and came out with a new style that people are catching onto. You can't be cookie cutter and hit it big, you'll be here today and gone tomorrow because there are a million cookie cutter pop princesses out there. You have to be unique.
Carrie is in the early stages. She's sold 3 million copies with her first album. She's not quite cookie cutter pop because she definitely has a country style, she's like a cookie cutter country pop princess. But there are still a lot of those style country singers out there, so she's going to need to do something special to hit it big like Kelly.
My whole point is Katharine is going to have to change her style if she wants to sell like Kelly did. She can't hit it real big if she sticks to what she's doing on the show. She'll sell 2 or 3 million records with her debut, just because a lot of Idol fans will buy her stuff. But after that, she's going to have to grow. Idol is a good foot in the door, but the artists need to make it happen from there.
TheMalcolmConnection 05-18-2006, 10:31 AM I'm not saying I don't like their music, I'm just saying that the demographic of who would buy Elliot or Taylor is way narrower than who would buy Katherine's.
dmek25 05-18-2006, 10:36 AM no,i dont have any basis at all about my OPINION,but the one thing i do know is the name of the game is ratings and if having a close vote means higher ratings,i dont think anyone at fox(or any other tv station, for that matter)is above doctoring the results to achieve higher ratings.as far as taylors talent,we can agree to disagree:)
TheMalcolmConnection 05-18-2006, 10:40 AM First off, let me preface this by saying that Katharine is SMOKING hot, but does anyone else think she looks like a total bitch?
saden1 05-18-2006, 10:43 AM Chris already had success. Fuel asked him to be their front man.
Fuel has issues. Besides, when in a band the money is going to get split and he's probably going to get a lesser cut.
