haha..yeah i was just about to say..."D.P." is refering to himself in the third person.
Well I've got to say, AMD would be very happy if DP stayed, just to keep some quality competition amoungst the WRs. AMD thinks the competition helps keep everyone on their toes. ARE and BL won't be able to just sit back and enjoy their new contracts w/o having to do anything on the field. AMD is optimistic and believes that DP, ARE, and BL will completement SM and CC to give the Skins one hell of a passing attack, but only if MB or JC does their job.
AMD out

From the horse's mouth:
Vinny Cerrato dismissed recent media reports that suggested wide receiver David Patten would be released by the team in June.
"It's totally untrue," Cerrato told Larry Michael this week. "I'll tell you what, David Patten has looked good out there [in OTAs]. He's making plays. He'll get his opportunities."

Patten should be kept for depth. If he really thinks he'll be making significant contributions in this WR corps, he's fooling himself.
However, if he's cut....does anyone know the cap hit? Could this maybe mean we're freeing up space for Seau?

Cutting Patten would save somewhere between 2.0 and 2.4 million in cap space. Cutting him is only a wise idea if you can find other players who would represent upgrades over what you already have on the roster.
I'm not sure any such players are available at this point, even Seau. I question how much of an upgrade he is over Clemons, McIntosh, and Holdman. But that's a discussion for the other thread.
Patten represents solid, veteran depth for us. If Moss or ARE get injured, he's the same type of receiver and can step in and run the same style of plays. I'd only cut him if we could get a good offensive lineman for depth, and then an improvement somewhere else too. Patten is more valuable than us Redskin fans are giving him credit for, IMO. We saw his performance last year, and somehow that made us all forget what he was able to do in New England. He can still be a big-play guy. Supposedly he was hurting since week 2 last season. Brunell was hurting the season before last, and look what he was able to do last season. Let's give Patten a chance, it's still entirely possible that he's our 2nd or 3rd best receiver.

once patten went down, moss's numbers dropped dramatically as did RB receiving yardage. I'd much rather see him out there again than farris or jacobs.
