Don't know if y'all pay attention to NASCAR, but Gibbs 3rd driver, rookie Denny Hamlin won his first Nextel cup race to move into the #9 slot of the "chase for the cup" (the top 10 drivers going into the final 10 races qualify). Plus last year's Nextel cup champ Tony Stewart came in 3rd, even though he drove with a broken should blade. Wow.

Since Gibbs has come back to football, his team won the cup, and he now likely has the rookie of the year driver in Hamlin. His son JD runs things. Them Gibbs are champs at whatever they do!

Way to go, JG Racing!

I was going to start the same thread! But then I didn't want people to think that I was shamelessly plugging NASCAR or my new job...

Be sure to catch the entire 2007 NASCAR Busch Series plus the 2007 NEXTEL Cup Playoff Chase starting in February on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN DEPORTES, ESPN 360 and ABC. Plus, watch instant classics on ESPN CLASSIC, and get live updates at ESPN.com and on your Mobile ESPN phone.

Haha.....Don't forget, ESPN/ABC Sports is the exclusive home of National Soap Box Derby Championships. And don't miss all the heart pounding action of the Indy Racing League, and the National Hot Rod Association.

with the way Hamlin's been driving this year, it's safe to say that he's JG's #2 driver, with JJ Yeley being #3. Hamlin's been flying this year...

on a side note, not that i want to cause pain, but Gordon's wreck yesterday was a thing of beauty.

YES!!!!
I've been following and cheering for the kid all season.

I call nascar the "Denny Hamlin Show".

I wanted to follow the sport a little bit this year and wanted a rookie so I looked on Joe Gibbs' Racing Team and saw Denny also drives for our Stadium sponsor, lives in Virginia and is a Redskins fan!!!

That race was great. He had a bad a$$ fast car and led 49 out of the fist 50 laps when his back left tire blew out and tore his car up a little. They got him back out quick but in last [40th] lace. He drove that black bat like a kid possesed.

wow!
Good for him.

I think Joe Gibbs' other rookie will have a great "Football" season too.

Aikman and Roger Staubach are starting a racing team. And guess who's helping them get started by supplying expertise, engines, and racecars....that's right, Joe Gibbs.

yep...they had Terry Labonte driving their car (96 DLP Texas Instruments Chevy Monte Carlo), and now Tony Raines is driving it.
