I'm guessing he'll get close to 1400 yards but not quite. His ypc will go up, and he'll get his share of scores. I see more trick plays in the offense this year. I see a lot of screens and intermediate completions, some of which will be broken for scores. I see more defensive scoring this year as well. I see less close games this year, where Portis is pulled for the fourth quarter and Betts gets the majority of carries in mop-ups.

guessing anywhere from 1400-1600 range. just like everyone else, the carries need to go done because as much as i love clinton, like matty said he was physically getting worn out at the end of the season. and matty, who sponsored this poll?

I think Portis is gonna be runnin the ball against nickel and dime defenses alot. He will have alot of yac yards.

I think you will see CP's rushing total remain in the 1500-1600 yard range, on fewer carries, plus I think you'll see him catch more balls out of the backfield. He not quite Faulk, but he has underrated pass catching ability that I think Saunders will try to exploit that out of two back sets.
CP is not a 3-yards and cloud of dust type runner that you can pound for 400 carries. It seems that he just needs to get past the first block and he's "gonnagetcha" at least 6-7 yards. I think you'll see a lot less 50-gut style between the tackles stuff this year, and a lot more backfield screen with R.Thomas, pulling behind Fauria off the right IMHO.

Rushing = 1700-2000
All-purpose yards (including passing and receiving) = 2000+
I wonder if Portis will still run the HB pass with Randel El now on the team. We could let BOTH of them have passing plays in the playbook. That would kill some teams. I suggest we wait for the Dallas game to unveil the trickery though. :)

I don't know. I love CP, but everytime he pulls his arm back for to throw that HB option I about have a heart attack waiting for the int. His throwing motion is so awkward I am always amazed the ball goes more than 10 ft.

when gardner was here, both he and portis threw option passes, so yeah, you'll still see that.
1400-1700, because betts and rock are going to get a lot of work too.

I'm in agreement w/ matty on this one. 1500 yards with alot less carries. if he gets enough carries 2000 is not unreasonable but i think gibbs will want to rest him for the postseason.

That was the ONE thing Gardner COULD do consistently. I loved him throwing that option because he looked like a quarterback at times.

Just for reference, the last few years Al Saunder's RBs have produced the following stats:
2005: Johnson 336-1750-20, Holmes 119-451-6
2004: Holmes 196-892-14, Johnson 120-581-9
2003: Holmes 320-1420-27
2002: Holmes 313-1615-21
Drool away. ;)
Also in 2004 derrick blaylock started 5 games before he got hurt and johnson played. His stats were 118-539-8
and this year portis said he was going to get 10 yards per carry, so he'll probably get about 3000 yards;)
