Survivor: Warpath-style (Interest Thread)

No, this is not a survivor fantasy football league. I’m talking like the show Survivor. This thread's primary purpose is to guage interest.

I rarely post, but I’ve been lurking here for years. I visit the Warpath pretty much every day for the most up-to-date Skins news. I simply choose not to post very often.

Being the offseason, things tend to get kind of stagnant on this board. The typical thread consists of “OMFG they asked LaVar about the Skins and he gave a weird look to the camera TOTAL DISRESPECT” blah blah blah. There have been more meaningful discussions between hunks of navel lint. So, I thought perhaps we could spice things up. If there’s enough interest, I’d be willing to moderate a game of Survivor: Warpath-style.

************************************************** **********************************

I won’t get too in-depth on any specifics at this point (wanna make sure there’s enough interest first.) I’m sure pretty much everyone knows how Survivor is played, but I’ll list some general info:

-Two squads (offense and defense, perhaps?) Eight players on each squad.

-Every “game day” there will be a challenge. Squads will work together to try to win. The victorious squad gains “immunity” for that day. The losing squad must vote off one of its members. (Note: I put “game day” in quotes, because I realize people have lives outside of a message board. One day in game-time likely would not be equivalent to one day in real-time. We would do challenges as are convenient for the players, and likely would not do anything on weekends.)

-After 7 members are eliminated in group play, the squads combine. From this point on, all challenges are individual.

-7 more players are eliminated in individual play. These 7 players form a jury, which will choose the winner from the final 2 players.

-The winner wins $1 million (we might have to talk to Danny about this part.)

Challenges would be done via PM and in-thread posts. I’m thinking they would be fairly simple (trivia, family feud, etc; things that would not be logistically difficult.) I’m open to suggestions.

I have no timetable in mind for the game. It seems like it could take quite a while to complete (14 challenges) but we have a while before preseason. No rush.

Obviously, this game would depend on the honor system. Players would have to trust each other to not cheat (i.e. look up answers online, get help from friends/family.) I’d hate to think that people would cheat to win an online message board game, but I don’t think honesty would be an issue.

Is there any interest? Does someone want to achieve Warpath immortality and be forever remembered as The Survivor? If this is an awful idea, tell me and I’ll go back to lurking.

I'll give it a try, not sure how well it'd work though, but there's an easy way to find out...

Yeah, it definitely won't work if not enough people are interested in playing. Maybe I should have posted this in a different forum so it would get more views? Oh well.

If enough people show interest then I'll run it, if not then I guess it isn't happening.

I understand how people might be skeptical that this could actually work, but I don't think it would really be that hard. As long as people log in to the Warpath at least once per day (on weekdays) and everyone has AOL Instant Messenger, it really wouldn't be that hard to do.
