Greetings, ok here's the deal. I need advice in purchasing a new laptop. It is primarily for work, but do some pic stuff (stills w/photoshop, etc. not a gamer) as well. Need to be able to handle and store big files fast and easy
Naturally, I would love to save some $$$ on a FAST unit with a big screen , but I also want an easy deal, with not a lot of set up on my part. I would like to have some support that did not involve a call holding pattern in Sri Lanka.
I would be easy prey for somebody to sell me stuff I do not need.
I can do this over the web?
I should go to best buy?
Your help is appreciated!!

Just go to one of the links above or straight to Dell.

For what you need, look at the Dell Inspiron 1525 or 1720. Make sure you have at least 3GB of memory, upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, the HD Display, and the battery if you plan to use it unplugged for extended periods of time. The rest is pretty standard, straight forward stuff that you can pick and choose what you want to spend. For a grand, you can get a very good system that will last you several years.
