I agree that those two linebackers are still worth picking up if you are new york. The only thing is that even if you are the best linebacker in the league it doesnt matter if you are on the field too long and get tired.Just ask Lavar and company. Our defense was underrated last year because they just spent too much time on the damn field.

Carlos Emmons, Trotter and Gildon would be a hell of a linebacker trio in NY. All of your reasons are valid, but those three would offer a lot of experienec and leadership to that defense.
Anyone know how much cap room they have?

Excuse me, but first the Eagles replaced Trotter with Lavon Kirkland who was so far over the hill that he could not see the top of the hill over his shoulder. What happened to them? They made it to the NFC championship game.
That year, Trotter was NOT hurt. He led the Redskins to what? My memory is fading here...
Last year, the Eagles signed Simonteau. He's the worst starting LB in the league according to you. What did the Eagles do? They made it to the NFC championship game. And Trotter led the Redskins to - - five wins and a high draft pick and his ticket out of town unless he takes a 75% pay cut.
Trotter is a good - but nothing better than good - linebacker. If he gets released in June - as he likely will - watch and see how many teams compete with each other to sign him to a big time deal. The over/under number for those teams is ONE. I'll take UNDER. He will sign on with a team for a huge pay cut and he'll be a good - but nothing better than that - linebacker for that money.
Trotter looked better than he actually is with the Eagles because their defensive scheme makes players look good. Other players have left that defense and been less than advertised. Look at Hugh douglass last year for one example; there are others... Trotter fell in love with his stats and his press clippings - as it seems you have - and he priced himself in the Ray Lewis/Brian Urlacher/Junior Seau category. (That's the Junior Seau of three years ago; not the Junior Seau of today.) And Trotter's not that good. Can he play? Yes he can. Will he sign with the Skins for about $800K per year. Not a chance? Is that about what he'll get elsewhere? Pretty close...

all he needs to do is sign the Postons as his agents and they will convince some team that he should have been the first pick in last years draft but becasue he was already in the NFL they wouldnt let him enter, but he still wants #1 money. Then they will agree to the terms, but change the contract to 800k a year, which of course will go unnoticed.

First of all I believe Trotter was injured the year we picked him up.....from redskins.com.."Trotter started 12 games as middle linebacker for the Redskins defense in 2002, unfortunately having his season cut short due to a knee injury. He tore ligaments in his right knee against Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, ending his season. Despite missing four games, Trotter finished fourth among Redskins defenders in tackles with 104 (72 solo), adding one interception and six pass breakups. He served as one of the leaders and the quarterback of the defense from his middle linebacker position."
Second of all are you saying Simmoneau led the Eagles to the NFC championship game? I watched him get burned and ran over more than any starting MLB in the league. The Eagles got to that game because of the solid offense and other defensive players, not to mention that there coaching is pretty damn solid. As much as it pains me to say this there team was more talented than ours last year thats why they got is far as they did, not because they had an amazing MLB like Ray Lewis that led there defense. Don't get me wrong I am not comparing Trotter to Ray Ray but I am saying that the Eagles defense would have been that much better with a MLB like Trotter.

In the 12 games Trotter played before he was hurt, were the Skiins leading the division and headed to the playoffs on the strength of their defense? Not the way I recall that year. Trotter was a guy who played linebacker "good but not great". That's all I've ever said about him. Oh and he is overpaid too.
I never said Simmonteau (or however you spell his name) led the Eagles to anything. I said that he was the MLB on a team that went to the NFC championship just as other Eagle MLBs have been on teams that went to the NFC championship just as Trotter was. You think he is the worst starting MLB in the NFL; I don't think he is quite that bad but let me agree with you for the moment.
Here's the logical conclusion from your opinion. The Eagles replaced Trotter with the worst starting MLB in the league and their record dropped off not at all. So, what does that say about Trotter? He can't be worlds apart from the "worst starting MLB in the NFL." I doubt that Andy Reid and his coaching staff have lost hundreds of hours of sleep trying to figure a way to get Trotter back in a green uniform.
The Eagles defensive system makes players look good. It is sort of the reverse of the Skins' defense last year which took some decent players and made them look like Keystone Kops out there. Trotter was made to look good - actuallly made to look a lot batter than he actually will ever be in a system other than that one...

I was at the Skins-Bears game this past year in Chicago. Late in the 4th the Bears were backed up in their own end at a crucial point in the game. Grossman threw a pass that hit Trotter right in the numbers. Did he grab it to turn the tables and give the Skins a victory in the only live game I got to see all year? Of course not.
I'm not blaming Trotter for that loss or the Skins' miserable season. But the lesson remains as always - never trust the dirty bird.
PS - the rule does not apply to my man Thrash, he's a Skin.
