Interesting breakdown and draft grade by fox sports.

FOX Sports - NFL - Grading the 2006 NFL draft (Nos. 25-32) (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5560234)

The article admits the skins pretty much skipped the draft so I am confused how a grade can be given to something that was not really done. It seems to me a better grade for the skins would have been N/A because the skins didnt really draft.

1) Jeez Offiss, get with it. It's August. Draft reviews came out in May.

2) Draft grades. Pfffft. Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care. Draft grades are based upon a grade for overall draft talent, but never consider whether or not specific players fit into a system. Rocky McIntosh may have been overrated for the 35th pick, according to draft experts and Mel Kiper and That Guy (I'm convinced That Guy knows as much as Kiper about the draft), but it holds no relevance because each player is drafted for a specific fit in a system. Draft experts all analyze the SUPPLY side of player talent. They take a look at what a player does well, his strengths, weaknesses, etc. But they rarely consider the DEMAND side, meaning what the NFL team needs him to do. Rocky is worth the 35th pick because GW believed that while there were many LBs available, Rocky was one of the very few who could do what GW DEMANDS.

Honestly, it just seems to me that they got an F just because they didn't select a bunch of over-hyped players out of college. The Skins took chances on previously injury-prone players that slipped to later rounds and should pay some dividends.

And undrafted free agents are just as important as your 6th and 7th round pick. With the way Jesse Lumsden is looking in camp so far, though he didn't come out of college this year, could pay the biggest dividends of them all. The way he's running, he may replace Ladell Betts right nicely next year as a very strong backup to Portis.

Ah,ancient prose.

It is amazing to me how an early deadline can place a fog filter over the eyes of some sports writers. I'll place that column next to my THE WORLD IS FLAT literature.

I love the draft! I get to see the players who will develop into studs on poor teams and ride to D.C. on Redskins one.

This is an old topic, though.

couldn't Gibbs saying "he liked the name" mean he likes players from The U. Most of the stars on our team come from there and I think thats what Gibbs may have meant.

Anyhow, I can't really fight the grade. We didn't have a draft this year, so not a big deal in my opinion. Rocky could be a good player, he could fall by the wayside. Here's where we just hope our franchise is strong enough that we can go a year or so with a poor draft and rebound next year.
