I also want to give a shout out to none other than Derrick Frost. He was booming his punts last night.

AND Hall made a kick!

Another positive: however much all of us (or some of us) are worried, no one takes this stuff more seriously than Joe Gibbs. Did you see the postgame presser? He looked like someone had shot his dog or something. No Mr. Friendly Coach Joe there--all he wanted to do was get home and look at the tapes and start fixng things. ANy worries about overconfidence and complacency are gone (if they ever were around). Gibbs sweats the details; we'll turn all this into positives.

Good morning dmek. Did I miss something though about Wright? I saw him get burned on that corner route, but otherwise I thought he played a good game.

dmek and I saw the same thing: Kenny Wright getting spread open and buttered. There were at least three other completions against him while was covering Henry -- kinda made Kenny look like Henry's bitch.

Then again, it was a bad night for everybody.

F*** it man I am so vanilla out. Why cant we come out and say you know what we are about this, here is the weapons we have try to stop us. We are the baddest mo fo's around just come out the gate swinging. Damn preseason and injuries prevent that. I hope we are the most aggressive team and just drop bombs on defenses.

Vanilla now. Vanilla A-bombs later. Wright,Reed-and anyone slipping Be very afraid.

You got me thinking...has there ever been a better opening game than when we cracked open a bottle of whoop-ass on Detroit in the 1991 opener. Talk about making a statement. Rypien lit up Detroit for like 400 yards...it was relentless, merciless, brutal. 45 to nothing was the final score. Wayne Fontes was practially on his knees praying for the slaughter to stop by the 4th quarter. And Detroit was a good team that year. The Skins met them again in the NFC championship game and beat them 41-10 on thier way to to SB XXVI.

I was literally on the field for that game since my high school marching band played half-time. We sat right behind the home bench...within arms length of the players. Incredible.

I would love for Al and Joe to make that kind of opening statement again this year. I want opposing teams to shit their pants thinking about having to play the Skins. Parity doesn't really allow for that kind of domination any more, but man was it fun to watch.

that's awesome ^

In times of turmoil I'll bust out the '91 tape. It makes me miss Darrell Green.

I remember those games, and I think alot of that success came from all those shifts that Gibbs and Co. had implemented. But, it was sweet!

Something Negative was that Reed Doughty chump.
Playing a 4-3, each LB filling the lanes of the gaps, CB Wright doing his job in zone ready for run support, QB handoff is pitched back, Reed advances to RB then oops..., hes given the perfect audition for G-Dubb against the best #2 reciever probably, and he blows his only responsibility in letting him get past him. Tsk Tsk Tsk, Carpe Diem rookie, unless you havent been cut tonite already.
