proper condiment for hot dogs?Big C 08-18-2006, 10:41 PM ketchup, mustard, chili SmootSmack 08-18-2006, 10:47 PM Has anyone ever had a hot dog at Turner Field in Atlanta? They have like two dozen different kinds there, and they're pretty good. FRPLG 08-19-2006, 02:08 AM Damn I hate ketchup. There are things in the world that I am simply not on board with and ketchup is right near the top. Like seriously the lists goes basically like this. List of things that make no sense to FRPLG: 1. Crazy ass people who kill innocent people for no damn reason(see 9/11) 2. Crazy ass people who put ketchup anywhere except the trash. etc... The stuff is straight gross. I don't even understand the concept. Let's get this straight. I am supposed to take this goddess of sliced and deep fried potato, salted to perfection by the way, and dip its savory goodness in a sugared up puree of over ripe tomato? Why the hell would I ruin something so savory and good with sweet tomato syrup? mooby 08-19-2006, 03:11 AM In the rare moments i eat hot dogs, i like chili on them. Monk-Fan 08-19-2006, 10:27 AM Putting jalapenos on a hot dog spices it up just right! itvnetop 08-19-2006, 09:40 PM Mustard only... I'll make an exception for bacon-wrapped found all around LA. Kraut and mustard on brauts. EternalEnigma21 08-20-2006, 12:37 AM If I dont make it a chili dog, I always mix the two. Theres really no other way to go. Mustard and Ketchup are perfect compliments. Just like if you cook mustard greens and put stewed tomatoes in the same water.... Good Stuff!!! dmek25 08-20-2006, 11:30 AM if your eating a dog wrapped in cheese and bacon, then alittle ketchup is fine. straight up dog, only mustard will do joecrisp 08-20-2006, 01:58 PM I've always been a chili dog guy myself, preferably with some chopped onions on top. But if no chili is available, I'm certainly going for the mustard, with NO KETCHUP! Brud, I was raised on the hillbilly/redneck/white trash (choose your epithet) tradition of boiled hot dogs on a slice of white bread soaked-thru and soggy with ketchup... and I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly! Dogs prepared in such a manner truly are an abomination. My wife (who is from the Midwest) refers to them as "Hoosier Dogs". Apparently, the word "hoosier" is the Midwest equivalent of "white trash"? I'd never heard that expression until I met my wife. At any rate, I find "Hoosier Burgers"-- another staple of my childhood-- equally disgusting. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore my mom, but there's a reason I developed into a great cook: survival! Monkeydad 08-21-2006, 09:34 AM I HATE boiled hot dogs. Grill or toaster oven only (toaster oven is a lot like grilling them, only inside the house). | |
