He wasn't Peyton Manning, but the entire offense bears the responsibility for not getting it done in the redzone, and the defense deserves a LOT of blame for letting the Vikings have their way on third down. SkinEmAll 09-16-2006, 11:00 AM i totally agree with saunders picking a new qb next year, we wont have the pick for a quinn or a booty but i would not be surprised if we go after a young talented starter now, like david carr they cant afford another screw up in the draft so i think they pick quinn Wow. gibbsisgod 09-16-2006, 11:05 AM Im not defending or bashing Brunell..... but, I think eventually this offense will need to be able to score alot of points on a regular basis and i'm not sure he can do that. I think we need a playmaker at that position with the competition in this division. That is why I dont think MB will be our qb for long. Its not that he will play so bad that he loses the starting job he just wont be able make enough plays when it matters. we play some really tough teams in the near future in Dallas, Jacksonville, Giants, Colts, with a few scrub teams mixed in there. We will need to ba able to score alot of points in these games to be successful. JC might be the spark that puts takes this O to the next level. But of course.......MB does deserve a shot....and he needs to come up big this week against Dallas. If he has another week like last week (where he didn't lose the game but he didnt do anything to win it either) we are in trouble. The qb's in this offense rutinely put up 300 yds passing days, Brunell put up less than 200.....AGAIN! amorentz 09-16-2006, 11:33 AM i totally agree with saunders picking a new qb next year, we wont have the pick for a quinn or a booty but i would not be surprised if we go after a young talented starter now, like david carr they cant afford another screw up in the draft so i think they pick quinn Just FYI even if we do end up with the #1 pick its going to the Broncos, remember? We'll end up with whatever pick they have if we finish with a worse record than they do, and they'll end up with ours. Id already be gravely dissapointed from how the season would have gone, but how much would it sting to drop from #1 to like #25 for TJ Duckett? Pocket$ $traight 09-16-2006, 11:35 AM If Jason Campbell is indeed our future why not just start playing him now? The longer we avoid starting him the longer his development will take. I think not winning is not an option for Snyder even if it would pay huge dividends down the line. Would you guys be ok seeing the Redskins have a losing season if it meant that our "quarterback of the future" was learning the game? We are 0-1 not 0-10. I give up. SKINS73 09-16-2006, 11:42 AM i see you live in harrisburg, im going up there next week for work how is it up there Hopefully you'll be staying downtown because they're a lot of good places to eat on 2nd street. Cafe Fresco is the best and it's smoke free if you're a non smoker. SKINS73 09-16-2006, 11:45 AM this whole thread is stupid. after just 1, thats right 1 loss, you are ready to call it a season and hand the reins over to someone who hasnt played a down in this league? if you can recall just last season, we were just 1 win away from playing in the nfc championship. i know its along time ago, but im not jumping ship just yet The point of the thread is to see how many people would agree that having a losing season would benefit us down the road if we started our "future" quarterback. The same thing the Giants did with Eli. dall-assblows 09-16-2006, 12:49 PM here we are one game into the season and people think we should sacrifice the season!? i think your coocoo for coconuts. brunell didn't lose the game. he didn't play sepectacular, but he also didn't throw 5 ints. ntil he consistantly throws ints. or something, hes our guy Longtimefan 09-16-2006, 01:04 PM This season, without a doubt will be the make or break season for Brunell. We know JG is not going to start anyone other tran Brunell as long as he can walk, so as long as he feels we can get to the playoffs (and beyond) with Brunell then this will be his last opportunity. However I think that while no one should be thinking about jumping ship at this point, many still want to see more consistent play from the QB position. I have always been a supporter of Brunell, he did have a good year last year, but that was last year, and all the teams in our division have gotten better. There are no "easy" games on our schedule. We don't look to Campbell just yet, as long as we still have a chance, and one game into the season should not change that. Brunell must play better however, and starting tomorrow night. In our run for the playoffs last year "five in a row or we don't go" it was the running of Clinton Portis, and not the passing of Mark Brunell that got us on that roll, and in the end when we needed plays from the QB position they were absent. It' plain and simple guys, Mark Brunell must play better for this team to reach it's ultimate goal. |
