OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Jim Fassel was fired as offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, a move coach Brian Billick said "was in the best interest of this team."

Wow. What a concept.

Fassel's available. Where is the "Should Sign Him" thread?

From 1997 to 2003, Fassel guided the Giants to two NFC East titles, a conference championship, an appearance in the Super Bowl and a wild-card playoff berth. He was named NFL coach of the year in 1997 and lost the 2001 Super Bowl to Baltimore.

This is funny - most of this stuff happened in the same season. Basically, he had one good season in NY.

how would you like to work for billick? anytime he gets any pressure from the front office, he throws one of his assistants under the bus

We definitely don't need his Garbage ass input! Billick got tired of that predictable, conservative ass offense! HAIL from MCUSA!

the ravens offense is a talent issue. mcnair isn't the old mcnair, they don't have ANY deep threat, their line isn't as good as it was when mulitalo (sp?) wasn't hurt, and jamal lewis is worn down. not to mention they also ditched their longtime blocking FB (alan ricard) for a former FB that's a better runner than blocker (and he's not all that great as a runner).

both moves were CYA. both coaches are on short leashes and rather fire someone than get fired.

Jamal Lewis isn't worn down. He averaged almost 5 yds/carry last week...but he only had 9 carries! He had 15 in each of the previous 2 weeks. He's their top RB and he gets carries like a backup. He's actually healthy this year too. There's no way he's worn down, he's not being used.

McNair is old, you're right. They have good receivers, he's just not getting the ball to them. It's sad that Kyle Boller came in and opened up the passing game. Mark Clayton had a monster week with Boller throwing to him.

The offense is passing way too much this year, but not effectively passing. They're not establising the run like they should. They abandon it. They even have good backups in Musa Smith and Mike Anderson, but their starter isn't even getting carries.

Someone else needs to call plays there. Billick will go back to the run, like they should.

Most people don't know that Billick inherited Culpeper/Moss and the legend grew that he was a capable of running an offense and as time grew on the fable was retold so many times that the legend evolved to him being an OFF. Genius.

Fassel sucks, why would you hire a guy who was dumb founded and embarassed in the Super Bowl against Billick ? Fassel is the fall guy, just like that worthless Matt Cavanaugh was. Balto. wants to see Billick be fired after this season and many hope ownership will standup to him should the Ravens not win the Super Bowl. Billick is able to brainwash the people so much by feeding crap down their ears that his real talent and future job should be a lobbyists or in PR. He knows all the right things to say, after years on not produciing. One would think if he has such insight that it would translate on the field. Don't believe the hype, Billick is a bum. One day I will tell the story of when Billick and I got into a fight a training camp and he dissed Joe Gibbs and Did Not say all the right things. Fuck him
