he was pissed no doubt. I think he either had words or will have words with coaches - not players. Doc Walker said that Joe has never, and will never call out players in the media, so his opnion was that anger was directed to Al and GW.
If you read between the lines his "principles" rant was pretty telling. I think he preaches, preaches about a certain of type philospy and the product every sunday is differnet and he is now pissed. I loved it. If you didn't see the change in his tone and demeanor you don't watch JG close enough.

I completely agree, Daseal. Saunders system is taking time to put into place, and sticking with Brunnell (and that, I take it, was Gibbs call) didn't help. One big problem has been the o-line's trouble in adapting to the new system. Saunders has a blocking system--it's Buges job to put it into place. This is not the Gibbs/Buges system of the eighties. Gibbs was calling out his o-line and backs, IMO, with his comments about not rushing. Saunders called running plays; the players did not execute.
But he did, for the first time, direct criticism at the D. I think the players are underperforming, but that was a way of crticizing Williams. And Williams clearly has large input on specific player moves--AA is his guy, and my guess is the reast are too. One bifg thing Gibbs said--and I completely agree--is that the D DID NOT GET THE BALL ENOUGH FOR THE OFFENSE. They didn't have enough plays. Long drive after long drive. If Campbell gets 10 or so more plays, we win, IMO. If you can't get on the field, you can't get a rhythm, and that's what Saunders offense thrives on. Of course, then they have to be able to run the ball--so the o-line has to get its head out of its ass and block, and Betts needs to hit the hole and hold on to the ball, or sit down. (I say start Duckett now, but we'll see...).
Gibbs was pissed. That was the equivalent of yelling by Gibbs. Behind closed doors, I do not doubt the fire will be lit. It may be too little too late, but it's time to play with fire, or get off the field.
Guys better start playing like their jobs depend on it because these last 6 games are definitely a tryout for next year. The lack of passion by the D is what's most disappointing.

I said this in another thread, and it bears repeating here:
Gibbs needs to parlay that anger by getting medieval with this coddled bunch - full contact practice in full pads. Twice a day if necessary. He has taken the bullet for this overpaid bunch week after week, and they've done nothing to reward that loyalty. It's time for Gibbs to put away the carrot and break out the stick.

It is funny how some of you guys can't get passed this thing with Joe Gibbs and Mark Brunell, but you can completely ignore the fact that the real reasons why we're losing games are the defense and the inconsistent playcalling from Al Saunders. I'll admit, I was very excited to see Al Saunders coming here, but this team wins with Joe Gibbs football, and they're not playing Joe Gibbs football.
A side note...I think Jason Campbell played more than well enough to have won us a ball game, but he has completely NO HELP from anybody else with the exception of Loyd, ARE, and Cooley.
sauners, playcalling, and defense have been blamed for weeks upon weeks. too badd lloyd couldn't have helped by catching the long bomb.

So go from an offense that has been #1 in the league for years upon years back to an offense that required Clinton Portis to carry the entire load which also netted the lowest playoff offensive totals in NFL history. No thanks. Give Saunders time to get his scheme in. Gibbs had two years and our offense was consistantly shit. Let's try giving someone else with a proven system not designed in the 80s to have two years.
i think an awful lot of that was on brunell and his injuries at that point.

Again, I think A solid MLB leader would help a lot of things, especially the passion aspect

Whatever it is, it has to be internal. This team was so pumped for the season to begin. As soon as Portis got hurt and we signed Duckett it was down hill from there (emotionally). Wish I could have been in the locker room and heard the guys talking......

I can't blame saunders for this game at all, we moved the ball on offense, he dealt well with the cover 2. We only got like 3 possessions in the 2nd half, pathetic.
