Mark Brunell: 2007 Comeback Player of the year.
He will be in Oakland and help Moss regain his old form.

He'll be straight for a back-up. I could see him coming in if needed, and playing well. For a short stint(6 quarters). Just as long as the team continues to be lead by JC, I would'nt have a problem with it at all.

At 36 turning 37 early next year, he's probably too old to start over somewhere as the starter. He could be a backup in pretty much any system.

I'm wondering what affect Brunell's return next year would have on the continued maturation process of Jason Campbell. Many times for a young QB knowing the coaches' favorite is still lurking in the background can cause uneasyness, feeling the slightest decline in play, he may be replaced. I wouldn't have a problem with Brunell's return if it could be worked out. I could be wrong, but my gut feeling is, it could be a distraction. I just think it's time for the team to move on " COMPLETELY".Gibbs isn't stupid though. He's loyal to all his players. When Mark was the starter, he was loyal to him. He made the change, and he will be loyal to his new QB.

He has to be and he knows it. The Ramsey situation...that was an exception, but I think it had a lot to do with the Campbell selection in the 05 draft.

He would be a top shelf backup anywhere at this point. I would like to keep him around. I think he could be very good over a few games for us and I think he can be a positive example on Campbell because he has been a great Pro QB and knows how to act.

He only comes back with a renegotiated contract though, for backup pay. He's due a $6.63 million cap hit in 2007!

didn't he talk about retiring before this season started?

Why is it that everyone's dancing around the main issue here?

Mark Brunell has the best head of hair in all of football. Frankly, he should be promoted to the coaching staff to make sure the helmet doesn't ruin his line.

Brunell will stick around in a backup role next year with a renegotiated contract. I think he actually likes it here. In addition, I remember an article where he says that he's appreciative for every year he plays now since he knows he's near the end of his career. While he feels he can start, I think he realizes that no team will give him that chance.
I also agree with the prior poster who said that he has always been a class act.

As far as favorites, Ramsey was the only male that I can think of who was "statuesque". Gibbs selected JC, and I would imagine with his play call on the Cooley TD, JC is at least a co-favorite of Gibbs now. Gibbs knows that, all things being equal, it is better to have JC in the game. I don't anticipate Gibbs pulling JC unless he starts putting up Vick-like passing numbers.

I think there are going to be a few teams shaking things up next year. Even if Brunell stays put in D.C., I could still see a starting opportunity coming up somewhere in the league.
