Andre Carter: has he shed his bust status?MTK 12-17-2006, 06:27 PM Carter is officially NOT a bust in my book now. I'm looking forward to seeing him next year with a more capable DE on the other side. skinsguy 12-17-2006, 06:32 PM Just wished our Skins could've started "jelling" a bit sooner. I do feel good about guys like Carter for next season. Beemnseven 12-17-2006, 06:32 PM It sure would have been nice to see him play like this earlier in the year -- when it really mattered. That goes for the rest of the team -- why couldn't we have seen this all season? SouperMeister 12-17-2006, 08:51 PM Carter is officially NOT a bust in my book now. I'm looking forward to seeing him next year with a more capable DE on the other side. Here, Here! I'll drink to that!!! I apologize for my early season criticism of Carter, lumping him with Archuleta as 2006 FA busts. One thing I've grown to love about Carter, he brings a ton of effort on every play. Unfortunately if we win out, the more capable DE we bring in for the other side probably won't be Gaines Adams. Eriwar 12-18-2006, 07:02 AM Does anyone else notice how GW allowed Carter to work through his struggles, while he pulls AA for sucking? I don't get it. You sign him to the richest contract for a S in history, he struggles in the first 8 games and he never sees the field again. Talk about poor scouting. Apparently, they didn't even want the guy. Carter has the 2nd and 3rd level if he makes a mistake to help out. AA is playing the 3rd level. When you get burnt back there it is usually for a TD. freddyg12 12-18-2006, 08:09 AM Carter was all over the place yesterday & beat his man consistently in the pass rush. If Brees holds on to the ball a little longer, AC would've had a couple more sacks/hurries. I love the way he's pursuing on the opposite side of the field too, like that last tackle on Bush. FRPLG 12-18-2006, 04:15 PM I guess the question depends on what we all expected with the signing of Andre Carter. He averaged only 4.5 sacks per year in San Fransisco. I remember reading that if anything, his presence alone would open things up for Philip Daniels. After 12 games, they each have 3 sacks. Right now, it looks as if we can count on these two guys to give us a big play every 4 games or so. Judging by the current state of the defense, I don’t think anyone could rationally argue that their production has been nearly enough. I think one problem has been that Daniels has been nicked all year. I think he is barely playing right now. But with his age he is simply a run stopper who can give us maybe 5 a year. If PD is healthy I think Carter has a little more chance to make plays since they can't just focus on stopping him. Neither is going to be a 15 sack guy but I do think we could get 15 sacks from them both total. Beemnseven 12-18-2006, 04:41 PM If that's the case, then I put the blame on the front office for relying on aging guys like Daniels and Wynn year-in and year-out. We should have been farming young talent at defensive end a few seasons ago. Carter and Evans are the youngest at the position right? The defensive line has been an area of neglect for this organization. hooskins 12-18-2006, 07:04 PM He looks better but I wonder if it is a case of being in the right place at the right time. I am still not sure, I want to see him put up numbers consistently. He still looks a bit slow of the line. 724Skinsfan 12-18-2006, 07:07 PM You have to admit that he looks a little more comfortable out there. He is using his speed a lot more than earlier in the year. |
