Where is Mheisig with one of his poo stories when you need him? jsarno 12-21-2006, 01:18 PM This was a few years ago, but I thought it'd still be fun to share after 12th story (but can't come close to topping it). The family was sitting around on Chirstmas Eve night after playing football in the snow for about 3 hours and my dad looks at me and says something like "what the hell, open this present from me now." So I tear open the box and pull out a Champ Bailey 70th anniversary jersey, which was awesome because that was the year they were wearing them and he was my favorite player at the time. Before I even put it on I said "well Dad, how about you open my present to you now?" He opened the box to find a 70th anniversary Darrell Green jersey. He was smiling just as much as me because 28 is probably his favorite player of all time. Then a few days later we both rocked our new jerseys to the Skin's game to watch D Green finish his career by beating the cowboys. That's cool. That's something you'll remember forever. Flash to this year, I'm getting a camera. Neat. Maybe you'll get lucky and be surprised. jsarno 12-21-2006, 01:26 PM Okay, so here at work everyone knows that I'm a Skins fan. In fact, there are many of us in this office. Anyway, we're exchanging gifts or whatever, and this one guy gives me a small box, rather light in weight, and it's all wrapped up. I was like what the heck is this, toilet paper or something?! So I open the friggin box, and it's one of those official Redskins baseball caps - the kind the Gibbs wears on the sidelines, I think! I flipped, people were teasing and laughing at me, right. They were like you're worse than my kid, huh?! It get's better. Check this out.....another buddy (same office) says he's going out to get one of these Riggo jerseys that just came out. Long story short, he walks by me and dropps this brand spankin' new Riggo jersey on my desk and says Merry Christmas, Bubba! I almost shitted ( is that a word?) on myself at that point! I did like four laps around the office. So there you have it. Merry Christmas, Warpathers! 12M Damn, I wish my co-workers were that courtious. What sucks for me is that I live in "Cowboys country". Over 50% of the people that live here are Cowboys fans, and they televise every game. We have a promotion going on for $2.50 24oz dom. beers during pro games, and all those cowboys fans become twice as obnoxious when drinking. I can hear them all the way in the back when the Cowboys score. It sucks. I have a co-worker that is an Eagles fan, and when the opponant scores against the cowboys, we cheer. We're the only 2 people cheering in the entire restaurant. GhettoDogAllStars 12-21-2006, 01:29 PM Damn, I wish my co-workers were that courtious. At least my best friend growing up was from the DC area, and he was a Redskins fan too. onlydarksets 12-21-2006, 01:50 PM No, they're mine! I'm not sharing! You can't make me! jsarno 12-21-2006, 01:57 PM Uggh. I lived IN Dallas for 10 years during their heyday in the nineties. It sucked bad. At least my best friend growing up was from the DC area, and he was a Redskins fan too. Ouch, that sucks bad! That's worse than I have it. I have never in my life been around a crew of Redskins fans. I have always been in the minority. I was born and raised outside of Boston. I'm a huge Red Sox fan (I have an entire room dedicated to the 2004 Red Sox including autographed baseballs from every player from every position that started any game for the Sox in the series) and I'm a huge Bruins and Celtics fan. But for whatever reason, I have ALWAYS hated the Patriots. When I was a little kid the Patriots were not a part of "boston sports" so I wasn't even aware they were the home team. I just always liked the Redskins, don't know how it started, but all my life I have been a Skins fan. My excuse to this day is...Well, they are the original Boston football team! haha I went to College (1 of the colleges) in Arkansas...another Cowboys country area. Now I live in Carlsbad, New Mexico and I hate it. So I have never had the luxury of having fans around me. My wife and I are interested in moving to Denver. At least they have a hard core fan base that aren't the cowboys. mredskins 12-21-2006, 02:02 PM Ouch, that sucks bad! That's worse than I have it. I was born in Fairfax Va. then grew up in RI the rest of my life until now I am in MD. It was great being a skins fan in New England during high school. We ruled and the Pats sucked. When the Pats went to the 86 super bowl it was the worst I wanted to hide. jsarno 12-21-2006, 02:50 PM dude I think we are twins. I love all the same teams as you. When the Pats went to the 86 super bowl it was the worst I wanted to hide. Where in RI? I had a lot of friends in that state. Greenville and West Warwick. Of course, I used to watch a lot of Pawtucket Sox games too. That's where I met Jeff Bagwell. Nice guy. Sadly he just retired. I actually won several bets that year because I knew the Pats would be creamed. I even gave them like 9 or 10 points, and I raked it in. I hate the Patriots, although have to figure out why I have such a deep seeded hatred for them. I know what you're talking about with roaming High School when the Skins were in their hayday. I think I saw you were 32 or 33, so we're very similar in age, I'll be 32 in a few weeks. I was at the last game in the Boston Garden. Bruins vs the New Jersey Devils. I still have the ticket stub framed. Everyone was trying to steal the seats, it was funny. I just sat there and soaked it all in. The Fleet Center just doesn't have the same feel, even though it ends at the old North Station too, it's like two different worlds. There was no place like the Garden. mredskins 12-21-2006, 03:55 PM I grew up in Portsmouth RI just outside of Newport. Best memory is watching Larry vs. MJ in the Garden. jsarno 12-21-2006, 03:58 PM I grew up in Portsmouth RI just outside of Newport. Best memory is watching Larry vs. MJ in the Garden. By MJ, I am assuming Magic. Right? |
