SmootSmack 01-03-2007, 11:32 AM I heard Campbell or a coach say that before a game that JC gets to decide which plays that he was not comfortable with and they would not put them in the game plan. All new QB's are restricted with waht they will let them try to do so thats nothing new.
Yeah Moss said that each week Campbell has said yes to more and more plays.
SmootSmack 01-03-2007, 11:35 AM i think gibbs needs to take full control or hand things over completely, this is getting painful
My biggest complaint (concern) about Gibbs, and I've mentioned this many times before, is that for all his deserved hype as being a leader and master motivator, he can't develop solid young coaches in his mold the way Walsh, Parcells, and even Schottenheimer have been able to. Maybe it's because you can't teach whatever it is he has. But for all their football knowledge, it'd be nice if some of these guys like Saunders, Williams, Lindsey, Hixon, etc. could develop Gibbs' communication skills with the players.
TheMalcolmConnection 01-03-2007, 12:08 PM People skills are TM by Gibbs.
And yes, I'm going to the gym, just waiting for Nicole.
Redskins_P 01-03-2007, 01:35 PM More and more that I think about it.....I'm starting to believe that Archuleta was snitch on the Tom Friend article.....
CrazyCanuck 01-03-2007, 02:28 PM Jimmy's got the hots for Elayne.
Hands off Jimmy! Don't touch Jimmy!
redsk1 01-03-2007, 02:58 PM You know alot of this is venting about a horrible season for the team and CP. He did say some things that are concerning that alot of us have been saying.
I thought after last year that this team had great chemistry, but during the offseason the FO starts throwing $ & draft picks around like its nothing. Well you know, it affends people that are "core" guys.
As for Lloyd, I have defended him throughout this year and I'm starting to change my mind a little. We don't know all the details, but if it walks and talks like a duck its probably a duck. He's a likeable guy but when things start coming from multiple sources its usually true. We'll see.
skinsfan69 01-03-2007, 03:01 PM One of the most interesting points I thought Portis made was that there really aren't any team captiains. Did anyone else find that, well, a little off putting? It reminds me of the way the coaching staff is put together, at times it seems like there's no captain or general who has the final say on everything. Anyways, I've never been on a sports team that has not had team captains. Some were picked by the coaches, some were picked by players, but nevertheless, they play a very important role on any team. Do you think on game days in Baltimore Brian Billick is like, I'm sorry Ray, we know you're a great leader, and you strike fear into the hearts opposing offenses, but we're gonna let Kyle Bowler be captain today. I DON'T THINK SO!!!! We need Captains on this team to help maintain order in the locker room, and we need Joe Gibbs to be the General of the entire organization, no questions asked. Agree?
Here is my problem with Portis. I love the way this guy plays. No one plays harder. But if your going to be a leader and a Captain then you need to set an example year round. Portis doesn't like to practice, bitches about preseason, doesn't like to lift weights or train in DC/ Ashburn. He said on the radio yesterday that after they train there is nothing to do in Ashburn in the offseason. He said it takes too much out of him to travel back and forth to DC and Miami during the offseason. Basically all he wants to do is play in the games which in the end he is paid to do. All these "U" guys want to do their own thing in South Beach. So IMO, although Portis is one of our best players, he's not a team leader. And in the end you need your best players to be leaders on and off the field. The Captains on this team are or should be: Jansen, Springs, M. Washington, Sellers, Samuels and soon Jason C.

I would add Randy Thomas as a potential captain.

Ok, I'll agree that maybe Portis would not make the best captain, but it's really hard to tell unless he's given the opportuntiy and then fails at it. However, we definitely need to have captains, they should let the team vote on it. I think Rock would make a good captain too.
gabe1984 01-03-2007, 03:42 PM Yeah, one comment that Portis made on the interview made no sense to me at all. As mentioned before, Portis said he doesn't like to stay in the area in the off season because there's nothing to do, and that's when people start partying too much, or something to that effect. Haha, how's it gonna be any better in Miami avoiding partying?! Are you kidding me?! It would be 10 times worse!!
