I must say the guy is probably the best to ever play the game. He just has talent and the drive to win which is unmatchable amongst his competitors. The best thing is that he does it with CLASS. Kudos to Tiger.

Which is a pretty scary thought to say the least. In addition, when he started working with Butch Harmon, it took him about 28 months or so to perfect his swing. After he stopped working with Harmon, and had a new teacher, it was about 28 months until the Brittish Open last year, where he started going on this tear, so maybe it took that long again. BDBohnzie 01-29-2007, 10:47 AM how can he be that much better? are the rest of the guys that intimidated? it's a combination of things...he is that damn good. He's one of the best golfers ever, bar none. So you have that, and then in the intimidation of knowing you are playing in a 2-some on the final day with a guy who is not only the best out there today, but knowing that he's clutch when behind and the lead is within reach... So you have that, and then in the intimidation of knowing you are playing in a 2-some on the final day with a guy who is not only the best out there today, but knowing that he's clutch when behind and the lead is within reach... Exactly. He's ridiculous, no doubt. But, all the other golfers are SO intimidated by him they can't play their best. They may not think about losing consciously, but sub-consciously they know they don't stand a chance. FRPLG 01-29-2007, 12:26 PM how can he be that much better? are the rest of the guys that intimidated? I really think he simply is so consistent that it is so hard to compete. He can go out and blow people away one round but really what he does is consistently shoot 64-67 whereas it seems even the other good players can shoot 64-67 three rounds and 70-72 for one. Somehow he seems to really avoid rounds that take him out of contention. And I do think the other are intimidated. Think about it. You're leading after 2 rounds but Tiger is 3 or 4 strokes back. Now you know he going to go 66-67 at the worst the next two rounds so you're thinking I can't shoot worse than 68 once or he's right on my ass. Next thing you know you're pushing a little. Then you hear a roar from up ahead and see the leaderboard change and Tiger move up. Now you're just about the crap your pants because what you KNEW was going to happen is happening. Even the best know he is going to push them and no one seems to know what the hell to do when they HAVE to get it done. He is so relentless. FRPLG 01-29-2007, 12:29 PM You know if he shoots 68-69 in the third that that is as large a door as he is going to leave open for you. You're only hope is that he does shoot 68-69 and you shoot 68-69 and stay in front. Then you have to do it all over again tomorrow. Really when has Tiger ever just faded? I am guessing it has happened but when? He never fades. He is always moving up. hooskins 01-29-2007, 07:24 PM They say in golf that you hit your "Prime" is right around age 30; which Tiger JUST TURNED. Which is a pretty scary thought to say the least. Good point, I remember the media all on his ass when he was "struggling" during the swing change. Now he is on this crazy stretch and they don't really have much more to say. |
