SkinEmAll 02-06-2007, 08:27 PM I think Irvin should be there, he just shouldn't have gotten in ahead of Monk. But the voters are looking at postseason too and that's where the difference lies.
What in the world are you talking about???? Can you show me some stats that put irvin WAY ahead of Monk? Can you please explain your stance on the post season instead of leaving it open? I guess irvin made himself a household name, but it wasnt all from ON the field production. Monk should have been in by now, and the voters are watering down the value and integrity of the HOF. The HOF voting is becoming more and more like the pro bowl voting, a complete joke. I wish the voters werent replaced only when they retire or die, it should be a set number of years and then they bring in a new batch. Anyway, skinsfan69 show me what the difference is in the post season that puts irvin ahead of Monk.
SmootSmack 02-06-2007, 08:37 PM Postseason stats:
Michael Irvin: 16 games, 87 catches, 1314 yards, 8 TDs
Art Monk: 15 games, 69 catches, 1062 yards, 7 TDs
But Monk also had 6 carries for 17 yards, whereas Irvin had 0 for 0....so ha!

Thank you very much TAFKAS!!
SkinEmAll 02-06-2007, 09:43 PM ok so here we go, if were talking postseason stats are what set them apart, here are their respective avgs per postseason game;
Art Monk: 15 games, 4.6 catches per game, 70.8 yards per game, 0.4 TDs per game.
m. irvin: 16 games, 5.4 catches per game, 82 yards per game, 0.5 TDs per game.
and Monk had 6 carries for 17 yards.
sorry, I just dont see the big difference here. irvin before Monk? Theres is NOT ONE legitimate reason for irvin to be in before Monk. Period.
DGreen28 02-07-2007, 06:04 PM Art Monk invented the term possession WR. Monk 68 receiving TDs, Irvin 65.
Receiving yards: MONK 12,721, Irvin 11,904.
Catches: MONK 940, Irvin 750
Catch a pass in 183 straight games. Former NFL record.
When Rice broken records he was breaking Monk's records.
I HATE THE COWBOYS and HOF voters
irish 02-08-2007, 10:39 AM Players and coaches need to vote and not sports writers.
You would be just trading one set of agendas & bias for another. The problem is not that sports writers do the voting, the problem is that only 40 writers do this voting. It needs to be more writers like they do for the baseball HoF.
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 02-09-2007, 09:39 PM What so amazing is that this team won 3 superbowls and went to another one in ten years and only have one player in the HOF that is a outrage. Any other team would have 4 or 5 by now.

Good point. I agree fully. Its a total crock.
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 02-09-2007, 11:42 PM the damn bills who lost 4 superbowl have two already in. Not counting Bruce Smith who should go in a couple of yrs and problable reed will go too. What sad is Monk retired as the all time reception leader and cant get in when he had to share the ball with clark and sanders. Worst of all the QB he played with avg at best except Thiesman.

this is a great point. and just look at the steelers, and in particular, Lynn Swann. his career stats definitely do not merit the hall of fame
