Skins looking for new MLB; Marshall back to the outside?

I honestly don't know what the hell to think about the LBs.

First, I think Marshall didn't have a great year. But he also didn't have much in the way of DT play in front of him. So I don't know what to make of Lemar.

If you bring in a new middle LB, or even if you shift someone on the roster to the middle, they're going to have to learn to be GW's QB of the defense, and make all those calls. That's a big adjustment.

I have no idea what they should do. Totally at a loss. I just wish Pierce were still here.

If the D-line keeps getting trampled, it won't matter who lines up where at linebacker.

Hopefully the #6 pick will bring us a stud defensive lineman. That would be a good start to resurrecting this defense.

This would fit into my strategy of getting Branch in the draft giving up next years 1st and 3rd to get back into the first to get Paul Posluszny and shift him to the middle.

knowing us we will swat a fly with a bazooka and sign Adalius Thomas also. Marshal should compete in both spots to push the younger players to step up in my scenario.

I'm about tired of giving away draft picks, how about trading down to get more picks? Let's stop the madness. We could trade down to get a MLB but i'm not sure a rookie lb is what GW wants or needs in his system. Who knows if he would start or not?

Marshall need's to be replaced with someone in the draft, I am tired of seeing us try to short cut the system with free agent retreads, . . . .

You raise some good points. Let me ask a question. Who's going to coach young linebackers? Kirk Olivadotti was a quality control assistant, then worked as assistant position coach for the defensive line and special teams. At the college level, he coached wide receivers. Not sure he even played linebacker? I'm sure he can gameplan linebackers, but can he teach the position?

Not knocking the guy. Gibbs and company must have seen something in him. I'm just saying maybe this coaching staff isn't really geared to evaluate and develop young players.

Exhibit A - Rocky McIntosh

Yeah, it's bad enough if that 2nd round pick turns out being a bust, but it's even worse that they traded up (losing this year's 2nd in the process) to get him.

Most people here are going to defend Rocky until he gets more playing time. It may very well be too early to make the judgement about him.

Still, we know he wasn't good enough to start right away.

A lot of people on a lot of teams don't start right away. I don't know why that's reason to completely write them off as busts.

So do you think we should draft a Stud D lineman?

Or Lamar Woodley from Michigan at MLB?

Either one would be great at # 6.

Pointing out that he didn't start right away is not the same as saying he's a bust.

But by the same token, not seeing any sort of significant playing time until week 15 or 16 is enough reason, in my mind, to raise at least some concerns.

McIntosh looked pretty good on special teams and once he finally got some playing time at the end he looked very athletic. Perhaps he was just slow in picking things up. Who really knows why he wasn't playing, but I do think it's too early to write him off.

i think my point is why keep putting players out of position? either draft( which i would prefer) or sign a middle linebacker from free agency

I agree with that 100%. I would lean towards signing a FA since Williams' scheme may be too complicated for a rookie to grasp immediately.
