Also the trans. fluid should be "RED" in color. That may help you in your search of the trans. dipstick. And like canthetuna said you should only have 2 dipsticks, oil and trans. Usually in older modle look behind your motor up by the bottom of your windshield. Hope this helps...

maybe the starter? can you get the car to start? you said you had to keep starting it to get it into your driveway

Just to update:
It was just a missing washer on the shift linkage. When I ran out of gas, all the hassle to get the car home (re-starting driving for 30sec, running out of gas again) must have shaken the thing loose. Like a 2.00$ part. How awesome is that. I'm driving around getting great gas mileage from a car that cost me 600$, hells yes.

Thats good to hear but putting gas in the car is a whole lot easier than running out.
