I think this offseason the team really needs to commit to this notion of what it means to be a core Redskin. We've seen too many of these so called core guys slip away. Trading away someone like Betts would just be another move that the players would quietly grumble over in the locker room and it would only further weaken an already shaky ground between the coaches and players.

If Gibbs and company are really serious about building and retaining key guys, they really need to step up to the plate and deliver.

what sucks is seeing the "core" guys going and playing well for other teams while we sign more expensive, crappier replacements :( .

betts was a good move. dock could have been upgraded the last two years, but it looks like he's finally figured it out, and for consistancy, re-signing him would be another good move.

I'm sick of all this "business" crap. The fact that the NFL is a "business" isn't justification for f*cking your players in the ass. To trade Betts now would be nothing short of criminal.

How would any of you guys feel if your employer treated you like that? Yeah, these guys are rich, but they are still human, they still have families, and they still have lives. You just don't F with somebody like that, and call it "business".

Beemnseven:

You got it right.

The Redskins' front office usually does dress up in clown costumes and clown shoes during the free agency season but they save the full clown wear - and put on the big red noses - only at draft time.

Then during the season they dress up in white shirts and ties to sit in Danny Boy's box at FedEx Field just in case the cameras focus up there. It would be unseemly for someon on SportsCenter to ask, "What the hell is Clarabelle the Clown doing looking over Danny Boy's shoulder?" :cheeky-sm

She would be humming a 50's song and serving a milkshake on Roller skates to TomKat.

ive got a crazy thought....after seeing what betts did in the last 6 games well minus the fumbles i was somewhat suprised with what i saw. Maybe shop Portis....might not get great value due to the injury...but starting to question if he is the right back for the offense we are trying to use.

Once Again Our Offense Is Set 4th Best Run Offense Without Portis For 8 Games!!!!!!! We Need Defensive We Know That But A Secret Need That No One Is Mentioning We Need A Kick Returner Not A Punt Returner Cause Randle El Is Good But He Doesnt Do Kicks Look At What Devin Hester And Justin Miller Did For Their Teams In Terms Of Average Starting Position We Need A True Kickoff Returner

we have a true kick off returner, and he's good enough. upgrading the kick returner isn't going to make a huge difference in wins and losses.

I take it you weren't watching week 2 in Dallas when Rock returned the kick for a touchdown. We're fine at both returner positions.

Rock is a good kick returner. He was 17th in the NFL in terms of his average on kick returns. That means he was middle of the pack. There are a lot of concerns about this team, but kick returner is not one of them. He was one of six players in the NFL to return a kick for a touchdown last season. Considering we had no idea that he was serviceable as a kick returner before this season I'd say that's pretty good.
