After seeing Thomas get away I'd like to grab Porter.

you mean that you want the 49ers to sign him. unless you are really the 49ers coach. are you?

I don't think you want anything to do with Joey Porter. Another LB on the downside of 30 with diminishing skills. Definitely a shell of the player he used to be.

He had 7 sacks and 40 tackles in 14 games, very solid year for him. Add to that all the leadership he can bring to a defense and he's a very attractive FA to pursue.

If a team signs Porter, they'll be writing checks far in excess of $10 for 3 years. You might as well hope that the Skins could pick up Peyton Manning for a $5M signing bonus and $4M a year after he opted out of his deal in Indy. Here are the three words that apply in both cases: Not Gonna Happen!

Fletcher will play MLB; that will free up Marshall to move back to OLB where he was actually productive. And it will take Holdman out of the starting line-up. That's just fine - - barring a big injury back there. If you want Porter to play opposite Washington, get ready to use up a humongous portion of whatever cap room is left.

You'll be happy to know that Holdman is an UFA and we are not going to re-sign him.
