Pocket$ $traight 03-04-2007, 11:59 PM Is anyone tired of players determining what is best for the team. Springs signed the deal and is making some decent money this year so he should shut up and talk about how he is going to help us.
I didn't see him complaining 4 years ago when he received that fat signing bonus.
Also, we know that when healthy, Springs is dominant in this defense. Why take the risk on Bly?
Luxorreb 03-05-2007, 12:08 AM You're right GMAC 14 games is better than 8!
Either way Rogers is gotta fight hard to start now. Consistantly missing interceptions that hit you in the hands or chest is just unacceptable for an NFL CB. How many picks to Rogers have? 1 INT all year?
offiss 03-05-2007, 05:18 AM I think the real story here is why Springs want's out so badly? He is looking more and more like Champ when he wanted out. I think some of these guys see the direction of the Skins and become disconcerted about our ability to ever field a legitamate contender, we are like a revolving door for personel, an inferiour talent leaves, so an inferiour talent is brought in, and on it goes.

You have some points but Springs has to share in the blame for last year's debacle. The D was pathetic while he was hurt. Now if he was pushed to come back too early, that would be a reason to be bitter.
If he doesn't like the direction of the team, he should accept his 7 million for '08 and play for new contract in '09.

Definitly, he has a hard time staying healthy that's no secret, he is an elite CB when healthy but that is a big concern, part of the NFL is being able to play week in and week out which he has a hard time doing.
EARTHQUAKE2689 03-05-2007, 08:14 AM Springs is better than Bly, I have no doubts about that.....
But does anyone know Bly's liablilty. I'm a huge Shawn Springs fan, and I would love to have him on the team next season, but I'd rather have Bly for 14 games, than Springs for 8
now that is crazy bly is better he stays healthyier has much better hands and better coverage skills springs has diminshed by far i would trade springs for bly in a heartbeat the contract thing is the only thing that kinda has me worried a little bit but springs for bly i would do that in a heartbeat and i think we should do that
bigant 03-05-2007, 08:27 AM i wonder what the jets wanted to give us for betts?
#56fanatic 03-05-2007, 08:33 AM I dont know why everyone is jumping on this Bly for Springs deal? Bly is 30, (thats not old!!) but he hasn't been all that great. He only wants to come here for that last big contract. All these signing bonuses DAnny gives out, 10million here, 10million there, thats why he wants to be a REdskin. Its not for the tradition, the prostage of the program, its the money. as is with all these guys they bring in. 10 million up front for a 32 year old LB?? that is nuts. WE didn't have to pay him that much. I think we could have gotten Fletcher for about 6 to 7 million up front. Smoot signed for what 2Million? I am sure he could have gotten more elsewhere, but WANTED to be a Redskin, not for the money!
redsk1 03-05-2007, 08:51 AM I would rather have Bly who wants to be here, than springs who doesn't.
I think Bly wants to be here to get paid!!! I can't say i blame him too much, just a thought.

I really don't think he's taking that much of a macro view of things, I think he's just uneasy with the way the team has been shopping for corners, he's old and gets banged up easily, and the writing is on the wall for him.
He just wants some long term job security and obviously with his injury history and age the Skins aren't willing to fully commit to him and understandably so.
