I must be the only person on earth who doesn't understand the hatred for Joe Theismann. Even some Redskins fans can't stand him. Colin Cowherd said today that the email and complaints against him are higher than for any other broadcaster they have -- something like 80% against. The rest are in the 60% range at most.
I still say that the networks tend to overwork this a little. I honestly don't think the viewers care as much as ESPN thinks as to who the announcers are and whether they have enough "chemistry". Just show me the game.
It all started going downhill for ABC when the Al Michaels/Frank Gifford/Dan Dierdorf team was broken up. Gifford at some point had to be shown the door, but otherwise, I think they messed up a good thing, and haven't been able to fix it yet.

Joey T. isn't my favorite, but he certainly isn't the worst one on the Monday night crew, Tony talks about his fantasy football team more than he talks about the game

I like Theismann as an announcer (yes, I know I'm in the minority). Although I must admit Jaws is a very reasonable repalcement.
This completely sidesteps the issue that there are a BILLION things worse about ESPN monday night football than Theismann could ever be, starting with the guest rapper of the week in the middle of the 3rd quarter. WTF?????
So I'm even more angry that in trying to "fix" it they are going to miss the things that are really wrong.

When JT first became an announcer I was not much on him. I'll have to say that over the years I grew to like him and his view of the game. I thought he did a good job of explaining things and why play worked or did not work. I really just listen to them as filler and for who's who playing.

there isn't anyone who watches more game film, or is more knowledgeable then jaworski. now that i have said that, why does mike tirico keep getting a free pass? he is about the worst, unknowledgeable( yes, I'm making up my own words) play by play man in the business.

Yeah they need to starting catering to the true football fan and drop this entertainment crap with interviewing celebs in the booth.

I doubt I'll be able to watch any eagles game that Jaws announces. Talk about an unabashed homer.
Um I am sure that is what alot of Eagles fans said when they watched Skins games on MNF last year

true. I just feel like Jaws and Tom Jackson put their former teams on such a pedestal that they lose objectivity when they talk about them. I didn't get that sense from Theismann, but it could be that I'm just a little biased on the subject.

I agree about Jaws, but I think Theismann is a bit bias too. Plus if you forget the biases and look at credentials Jaws is clearly the better choice.
I don't have a problem with Jaws coming aboard, but it should be interesting to see how he makes the switch from breaking down film to breaking down a live game.
I like Joey T. too though, but I'm sure he'll land another gig pretty quick.
