Another reason for him to play well this year: He signed a one year contract for under a million, so he'll be playing hard to get another big contract in 2005....

trotter couldnt read and react, and he missed assignments... i think we're better on LBs now then we were last year... trotter's not bad, but i doubt he would've accepted under a million here and a possible demotion. iggles got a deal cause no one else made a real offer. that'd be my guess anyways.

The reason Trotter is with the Eagles is that he finally figured out that he wasn't going to get any team to pay him more than $1M per year. The problem with the Redskins keeping him is that they had him signed to a 5 year deal worth $35M. (Do the math folks.) If the Skins keep him, he costs a bundle; if they cut him, some other team can get him for what he is worth - less than $1M per year.

The roots of the Redskins' problem goes back to the boneheaded decision made by the FO when Trotter had his "franchise player tag" lifted by the Eagles. The Sklins' FO swooped in and gave him the contract the Eagles thought was an outrageous demand. The Skins' FO - lots of fans - spent about a month gloating over how they had taken this critically important cog out of a division rival's machinery. Guess not...

I can't fault the FO for making the Trotter move. At the time it happened we appeared to have one of the best LB corps in the league. Arrington, Armstead and Trotter, who wouldn't have wanted that group?? We also killed two birds with one stone by taking away a key player from a division rival. A lot of people, fans and media alike, applauded the move and thought that the Skins defense was going to be significantly better because of it.

First Trotter had difficulty adjusting to Marvin Lewis' defense, but then again who didn't? Then, once he started to get the hang of things, he blows out his knee. To be fair to Trotter he never really got the chance to shine in this defense. But then again, there was a reason the Eagles let him go without much of a fight. His well documented knee problems were out there on the table for everyone to see, and the Redskins rolled the dice and lost.

It was an aggressive move that just didn't pan out. I can't fault them for trying, was he overpaid, definitely, but that's Snyder's MO. Was it the worst move Snyder has made? Not even close IMO.

letting davis go or hiring all those 80 year old big names were far worse...

Deion was still the worst move of them all IMO.

Agreed. Jeff George was a close second though....

guys, this SUCKS. this will haunt us. its just a matter of how much..

Trotter always had the talent and drive, but bad circumstances always kept him just GOOD and not GREAT. injury and revolving def. coordinators would do that to anyone. can't believe we didnt try harder to renogotiate or something. this is about as bad an outcome as there could've been. back to the Eagles? UGH.

i don't get it. Armstead and Trotter were serious, consistent warriors for us and we dumped them pretty unceremoniously. experienced, high character guys, that no one could blame our defensive woes on. did everyone expect 3 LaVar Arringtons?

If Trotter is so good. How come it took so long for a team to sign him? I don't think he sucks, but I would rather have Barrow. He has experience, and he's a team leader......that's one thing Trotter isn't.

Canning Norv with 3 games remaining wasn't the smartest of moves either. Even though the team was struggling they were still alive in the playoff hunt at 7-6.

The team threw in the towel once Norv was fired.

Trotter has only played with two teams. on the Eagles he rocked, on the Skins, in the most turbulent of times he played decent. how well did Arrington play under the def. coordinator merry-go-round?

no one knows him closely except these teams and dont know how well he will recover from the knee 2 years ago. and he was used to the Skins money, thats why no one attempted to sign him. didnt mean he's not a good player. hope he doesnt get to prove it now that he's on the eagles.
