How long would you pass out for though?

Could you wake up before you hit the ground at 200 mph?

Considering that it would take something to jolt you to wake you up, probably not. If you hit a bird on the way down with one of your limbs, that could do it (you would also be amputated). If it hits you in the body or head, your done before you hit the ground!

I'd prefer to be just sucked into one of the engines, end it quick.

I've heard actually that as you die, all the cells in your body start to release every endorphin and you feel total bliss. Every nerve fires, and a sense of euphoria is experienced.

Those that have near death experiences report "seeing a light". This is probably a result of your optical nerve firing off from the excessive dopamine and other chemicals.

Ultimately, death at the very end is a very pleasant euphoric experience.

When I first learned about this I didn't think much about it, and then it hit me. What could possible be to gain evolutionarily for having a pleasant death. Your not around to tell other about it and reduce fear to other people. It doesn't get passed down. It has nothing to do with survival of the fit. It's just some random thing that happens...

Kind of cool.

well i wouldn't want to live forever so I got to hope i go when i feel ready. I still got a long time. I do believe in reincarnation and it is a comforting thought. I also believe that you are not reincarnated an infinite amount of times, but rather you can reach a heaven after you have lived an extremely good life and have lived good lives in your prior lives. Sorta, you progress up and up and up through reincarnations until you reach heaven but you can also go down and down and down and get further from heaven. Its almost like this life is a hell and you progress your way to a heaven. Again it is a comforting thought that this life could be the worst that it can be. I just can't bring myself to believe in a hell. I just don't believe one life can effect an eternity.

I also believe heaven is just become one with God and having eternal knowledge. And by one with God, I actually mean part of God.

Well, you're right that it doesn't really have an evolutionary benefit, so it makes you wonder... Is it just a type of Mercy that is given to us from god? If death is a euphoric experience it seems like a big coincidence. It could just as easily be the exact opposite and be the most dreadful thing ever going on in your head.

I am terrified of death. I've lost several people close to me from various reasons- killed by a drunk driver, cancer, suicide (the worst)... Funerals never get easier to go to. But I suppose as you age your perspective on death changes. As life moves on and you gradually achieve your goals, I would hope a sense of satisfaction continually grows inside. Personally, if I fall terminally ill in my 70's or 80's, it will be easier to accept if I can look back on a happy family (wife, kids, grandkids), a productive career, and a good, honest life with plenty of joy in it, then I will probably be at peace. I can think of nothing worse than being diagnosed with something terminal at a young age and knowing you'll never have a chance to experience some of the great joys in this world.

Be healthy everyone!

Man, this thread is pretty morbid...

If you fall from 30,000 feet you need supplemental oxygen (http://www.skydance.net/sd/highalt.txt) otherwise you will defiantly pass out.

Yeah, I'm not a big religious person, but at the same time I see some pretty strange stuff. I've also had some pretty insane experiences with intuition and things of that nature. This is just one example that messes with my head.

I'm pretty much the textbook agnostic. I think objective truth is unattainable, and that's what makes a lot of life so frustrating. There is no real way to KNOW in the true sense of the word that anything concrete exists. That's why death is so scary, but interesting.

There's a nursing home by my house that let a old man with Alzheimer's walk away last year. They still haven't found him! Then last month this. Sign Up (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-rat7apr07,1,2745582.story)
From the outside the place looks normal. Thank God there trying to close them down.
But back to the point, yes I am afraid to die and your right. Dieing in a nursing home where no one cares about you would really suck.:hitfan:

I just really don't want to die period.:(
