I'd say alot depends on how your wife is dealing with it as well and how close you were to the lady.

If your wife is dealing with in stride (which depending on the age/situation,she maybe), than if you feel you can work, you should.

It all comes down to how you feel and how your wife is doing. Dont work because anyone told you too, and dont skip out because someone told you too. If you need the time off for yourself and/or to be with your wife, you should. It dosent matter what anyone else thinks.

sorry. I would use the benefit you are entilted to, it's not a benny if you don't use it. FAMILY FIRST!

Bereavement leave is not in the same class personal/sick leave. It shouldn't be abused.
