WASHINGTON - In a whale-size project, the world's scientists plan to compile everything they know about all of Earth's 1.8 million known species and put it all on one Web site, open to everyone.

Crazy that they're using the term "known" species. Still finding new things all the time ...

Knowing how hard it is to explore the oceans, I'll bet most of the unknown stuff is there.

Also a ton of insects in the tropical rain forests of south America and in the jungles in Africa. There are so, so many types of bugs.
