If she gets paid to ruffle our feathers then mission accomplished.
Here comes SallyMTK 05-15-2007, 09:27 AM If she gets paid to ruffle our feathers then mission accomplished. JDALY27 05-15-2007, 09:40 AM Here is the email I wrote her last night and her two responses. "I just finished reading your column on Sean Taylor and Shawn Springs. My question is this...Have you ever written anything good about the team? I can't remember a single article you've written that had something positive to say. Where does this bias come from? And why, if you hate the team so much, do you continue to write articles about it. How could you possibly quote Chris Carter in your article? What has he done that you feel he is an expert "insider" and knows exactly what different coaches are doing? Have you seen him on HBO? His opinions are a joke and I feel it reflects on you as a columnist that you would use his opinion. It is obvious you were just looking for some filler for your article. At least, for your sake, I hope that is the case. Because if it isn't, you've lost all credibility as far as I'm concerned. Please do us all a favor and and stick to covering cycling or whatever it is you write that no one cares about. I don't know of anyone that likes your columns or respects your opinion." Her response- "I don't set out to offend Redskins fans. Believe me, it's a lot more fun to write about a winning team. I simply think the Snyder-Cerrato-Gibbs tenure has been a failure. I've written plenty of nice things about individuals with the organization. If you go back and look, I think you might be surprised. In fact, I'd never written a critical word about Gibbs until Friday. And I probably praised Brunell and Ramsey far past the point of reason. Stephen Davis leaps to mind as a player I always wrote glowingly of, as does Gregg Williams, Champ Bailey, Laveranues Coles... That said, I'm not sure I've ever writte anything positive about Snyder or Cerrato, for the reason that I think they deserve criticism, not praise, based on the record. Fans tend to take things personally. I understand that. I'm simply more dispassionate about the team than you are. But I thank you for reading the Post. Best, Sally J." "PS-I wrote tons of nice things about Steve Spurrier. I actually thought that, in time, Spurrier would have grown into a good NFL coach. He was fun and so was his team. I was in the minority on that, but I wrote it consistently." First of all I thinks its cool you got her to respond. I liked your email to her also. This was the only time she bad mouthed Gibbs by saying he's lost touch with his ability to communicate to his players......no big deal right. Sally isn't passionate about the Skins and hates Snyder. For all of Snyder's mistakes marketing the Redskins and bringing Gibbs back is not one of them. He has done everything in his ability to provide a winning football team to the Skins Fans. I praise him for that. Her email is so out of touch that it makes me feel better how stupid she actually is. We should all bum rush her inbox with emails detailing how we don't appreciate those types of articles in the Washington Post when we're tyring to read up on our team in early May. Whatever Sally! bigSkinsfan61 05-15-2007, 10:40 AM ... Bitch. yea ...what he said bigSkinsfan61 05-15-2007, 10:43 AM If she gets paid to ruffle our feathers then mission accomplished. well stated matty Monkeydad 05-15-2007, 10:51 AM JDALY, Not to start anything with you, but I could say that I know a lot of men who don't know shit about football either. Yeah, like Tony Romo. :) 70Chip 05-15-2007, 03:09 PM Sportswriting, like golf courses, should be off limits to women. They just don't belong. Except for that Natalie Gulbis. She could drive the beer cart. I blame the WaPo for hiring her. With the exception of Boswell, all of their writers have their hearts somewhere else. Send Wilbon back to Chicago so he can cover his beloved Bulls and Bears. Send T.K. to Binghampton so he can drive up and have lunch with Boeheim every Tuesday. The Post sucks. 12thMan 05-15-2007, 03:16 PM Sportswriting, like golf courses, should be off limits to women. They just don't belong. Except for that Natalie Gulbis. She could drive the beer cart. Right. Everyone agrees then. Longtimefan 05-15-2007, 03:33 PM What really needs to happen is for the Redskins to start doing business the way most of us on this site have agreed they need to do. When this happens, there won't be as many negative article's written about them. Sally will eat too when our organization begins to do business the conventional way, and win football games. We have to change our philosophy in order to accomplish that feat, once it occurs (if it does) I'm convinced much of the negativity will subside........Winning has a way of changing the negative perception. MTK 05-15-2007, 03:41 PM Right. Everyone agrees then. Yeah not quite. Pretty ignorant thinking if you ask me but hey... |
