In constant efforts to keep Modjacking to a minimal I've brought more content actually on topic.
JGR meets and may change personnel on Hamlin's team UPDATE: Joe Gibbs Racing officials met Monday to discuss personnel changes after a pit road mishap cost #11-Denny Hamlin a victory at Darlington Raceway. Hamlin was critical of his crew after a pair of dropped lug nuts during a late pit stop cost him the race. Hamlin, who led a race-high 179 laps, was in second when he went into the pits but plummeted to 16th after the error. Although he rallied to finish second, he was furious after Sunday's race. "If we lose by 20-30 points when it comes down to the championship, we know exactly where we lost it, and that's on pit road," said Hamlin, who could have won three or four races this season if not for mechanical problems or mistakes on pit road. I gave away Phoenix, that's my fault. But there's two to three other races that we had the best car most all day, and even at the end, and just gave it away on pit road. Today was a prime example of that." The team met Monday to see if any changes should be made to a crew that helped Hamlin to two victories and a third-place finish in the Chase for the championship during last year's rookie season.(Associated Press)(5-15-2007)

He went into this Pit in the #2 position and came out 14th. ack!

On lap 303 the #11 took advantage of yet another caution to pit and try to free up Hamlin on the initial throttle. On pit road, Hamlin certainly hoped to come out with the leaders but dropped lug nuts during the change cost the team valuable time and Hamlin lined up to restart 15th on lap 309. Fedex Racing

Well, as I said earlier he is a heck of a racer. Obviously a lock to make the Chase.

Does anyone know how the lug nuts got dropped? I was under the impression that the lug nuts get glued into the tire. Who does this and how the heck did not 1 but 2 of them fall out. Or is this common?

UPDATE: #11-Denny Hamlin's over-the-wall gang will have a new look at Wednesday night's Nextel Cup Pit Crew Challenge at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Denny Hamlin said there were "two to three other races" this season where a bad pit stop cost him a chance to win a Nextel Cup race. Crew chief Mike Ford made several changes to the crew after Sunday's pit road mistake at Darlington Raceway, the latest in a series of blunders dating to last season that have kept Hamlin out of Victory Lane. Ford agreed, so he moved the rear changer to the front and brought on a new front tire carrier. He replaced the rear tire changer with an employee at Joe Gibbs Racing that has been training for the position and moved the gas man to jack man. He made a temporary change to the gas man and will continue to look for a long-term fix.(ESPN.com)(5-16-2007)

Hamlin is going to be a serious threat in years to come. He's already getting people talking about him. Anyone that comes out of Southside Speedway in Chesterfield Va is a great driver. I grew up at that track watching guys before him race, and there was never a dull moment. Since he's doing a USMC car, I think it would be great to someday see Redskins paint on one of them.

He'll be at Southside this May 31st and a Late Model 175 lap race if you can make it.

I would LOVE to see Redskins Paint on the #11 one day. Black with Burgundy and Gold....Hail Yeah!
