Redskin 08-08-2007, 02:08 AM I think that funny and even funnier that people are actually bidding for it, very creative. dmek25 08-08-2007, 07:18 AM Thanks man...classy. Anywho, anyone that supports him supports cheating. (I guess that's why you like Stewart too) your thinking entertains me. so back in the mid to late 90's, when everyone was using them, what do you say about Roger Clemens 350 wins? or Sosa's 600 homers? there were no rules against it. the players and the owners both made alot of money, and got fans involved with baseball again. Raphael Palmeiros 3000 hits? dare i say Cal Ripkens 2194? EternalEnigma21 08-08-2007, 11:34 AM that auction is funny... im going to watch it and bid at the last minute... if I win it ill put it in my redskin room i'll be working on this fall... jsarno 08-08-2007, 01:37 PM your thinking entertains me. so back in the mid to late 90's, when everyone was using them, what do you say about Roger Clemens 350 wins? or Sosa's 600 homers? there were no rules against it. the players and the owners both made alot of money, and got fans involved with baseball again. Raphael Palmeiros 3000 hits? dare i say Cal Ripkens 2194? I think it's all tainted. All of it. Although I do not feel Ripken's record is tainted due to the fact that I don't think he did anything, but he could have, so who knows. I used to LOVE baseball, it was my favorite sport until the strike back in the early 90's. Even though I loved Football, that's when Football became my #1 sport. I never left football as my number 1, but I allowed the McGwire's of the world to bring me back to baseball and it was my #2 sport. After this, Baseball has fallen to NASCAR, and I am disgusted with Baseball. If I was Selig, I am unsure of what I would do, so I don't blame him. But I do blame all of baseball for allowing this and sweeping it under the rug for many years. Redskin Rich 08-08-2007, 06:02 PM How did this funny little thread become a fight???? jsarno 08-08-2007, 06:40 PM How did this funny little thread become a fight???? It's Bonds! But you're right...there is plenty of other places to bitch about Bonds cheating. The fact that it's a wiffle ball just makes me laugh. His creativity will give him a few bucks. skinsfanthru&thru 08-08-2007, 07:45 PM I have no disrespect for anyone who disagrees but I honestly don't know how anyone can actually cheer for the man. I can understand not wanting to completely hate the guy until their is an actual positive test, but there is just way too much stuff that points to him being guilty. As someone was talking about on ESPN last night after this happened, his head has gotten proportionaly(sp?) larger and that can only result from a couple of ways including HGH and having the same form of gigantism that Andre the Giant suffered from. Then there is the fact his former trainer is willing to do serious jail time rather than testify against his former friend, Bonds. Not too mention how completely different his body was from 1999 to 2000. And I don't care how much work an athlete puts into their workout program, there is absolutely no possible way an baseball player could suddenly jump from 31.8 hrs/yr to 51.6 hrs/yr during the five years after his much scrutinized drastic change in body style and widely reported initial usage of HGH and the like. I don't believe his acheivements since then have been on the up and up much like I don't believe Roger Clemens could have been stayed @ the level he had been at before this year w/o some type of help. Maybe it's the pessimist in me but there's just too much evidence for me to accept the acheivements over those from the past. I have no problems saying Bonds was an absolutely exceptional player before 2000 and could have gone down as one of the top 10 players of all time but the past few years have forever tarnished his career in my eyes personally. Just like I used to like MacGuire from back in his days with Oakland & St.Louis and now I can't believe I used to cheer for the guy. jsarno 08-08-2007, 08:20 PM Just like I used to like MacGuire from back in his days with Oakland & St.Louis and now I can't believe I used to cheer for the guy. I agree with everything you said. I do think it's funny that McGwire has fallen from grace. Everyone is pointing to Bonds and allowing him to be in good graces, but McGwire has not been implicated, and in fact, what people use to say Mark was guilty was his not wanting to talk about the steroids. Fact is Mark said he took Andro, which was legal, but yet everyone has dismissed Mark's achievements, and not Bonds. Odd. |
