I would take the time to at least price Statefarm. IMO, just the best out there overall.

Sounds buy the prices you must be young, hopefully not any/many tickets or that could be the normal price your gonna pay.......?

The three you mentioned will drop you like a hot potatoe...good luck

haha you know i just realized that, ummm i have no idea maybe i do that alot, i guess i have to break the habit.

also do you guys know of any reliable cars ? i'm looking at about 12 grand to spend overall on a car, most likely i'll get a 2nd hand car from carmax but i dont know whats good. i looked into vw passat 2001 and it had some pretty crappy reviews of the model for that year. i'm not really looking for anything flashy just something that will last and looks decent. so far im leaning towards a mazda 6 2005 pretty cheap and low mileage.

The key to finding the most affordable rate is in the deductible. The higher the deductible, the lower the rate quote. I have an 2006 Jeep Laredo. My deductible is $1,000 instead a 250 deductible. My rate is 1,000 for 6 months and I'm in N.J. where the rates are higher than most states. The insurance company I have is Drive/Progressive insurance. Go to Google and type in Drive-Progressive which is cheaper than Progressive Direct.

I've had State Farm for about 7 years and been fairly pleased with the rates and the service. The most important thing though is to pay that friggin' car off asap. Drop the full coverage down to liability.

Look, while you should look for the best price you should also look at claim service and customer service. The only time you need an insurance company is when you have a claim! Make sure you have all the coverages you need and NOT the state minimums as there are too many people dying to take everything you have in the event of an accident.

Now I am not a licensed insurance agent, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Seriously, I have been in the insurance business for 15+ years and two things always stick out when customers are either happy or pissed off. Rate and claims service.

Good luck! Check with the biggies (State Farm, Nationwide, Geico, Progressive, Farmers)

Personally I'd stay away from Progressive. Yes I'm biased since I worked in that hell hole for a year doing claims, and believe me if you saw the way the company operates from the inside you wouldn't want to do business with them.

Besides that their rates typically stink, they'll insure anyone and I mean anyone, so their rates are usually higher because they take on a high risk pool.
