Randy Thomas torn tricep (out 10-12 weeks)Darrell_Green_28 09-18-2007, 09:15 PM wonder if we just cut someone to open a roster spot and sign a Oline man for depth until RT comes back? who would be out there thats good we can get for decent pay? skinsfan69 09-18-2007, 11:53 PM The real question is do we put him on IR and free up a roster spot, or hold on to him with the chance he MAY be able to play in 12 weeks for the final 2-3 games? Im leaning toward IR and sign a vet. Lets say it's 10 weeks. You have the bye so that's 9 so at best he could be back by the 11th or 12th game?? If we are in the playoff hunt then you hold on to him. skinsfan69 09-19-2007, 12:10 AM I'm an avid weight lifter and I played some football a long time ago. I get joint pains all the time. But how the hell do you tear tri and bi muscles? The whole muscle is off the bone. This injury seems to be a common injury lately. Any doctors out there? 70Chip 09-19-2007, 02:41 AM I can't resist the urge to take another shot at the NFL's roster rules. This is a prime example. With injuries becoming more and more of a factor in what makes or breaks a team, there should be no big dilemma for teams in this situation. Allow Thomas to take the time he needs to get healthy, and let us bring someone else in. When he's back from injury -- let him play. The same thing happened to us in 2005. WR David Patten got hurt, but was ready to go by season's end just in time for the playoffs, but since we had to place him on injured reserve, we were stuck with the likes of Taylor Jacobs and Jimmy Farris. Why won't the NFL change this absurd rule? I agree. Each team should be allowed say two exemptions for injured players expected to return. This would allow teams to deal with injuies like this without allowing them to stockpile talent. In thinking more about this situation, I think we should keep Thomas on the roster (assuming he has successful surgery and can return in 10 or 12 weeks), cut Bodiford, and sign another guard for depth. I thought the Redskins were being overly hopeful about him returning, but apparently after the surgery he will be near 100% once the healing process is finished. BrudLee 09-19-2007, 07:46 AM If there are roster concerns, we have 6 WRs on the active roster right now. This is peculiar, because we don't have any 5 WR sets. We'll see a WR released if there is any chance Thomas can return. BrudLee 09-19-2007, 07:54 AM I agree. Each team should be allowed say two exemptions for injured players expected to return. The problem with this is that teams with a lot of money (say, us) could use a temporary spot to circumvent the salary cap. From what I understand of Thomas' injury, he was undergoing surgery today. I think Schefter's timetable is wildly irresponsible considering he hasn't been opened up. I certainly hope it will be 10-12 weeks, but Greg Oden thought he was getting scoped earlier this week, too. irish 09-19-2007, 08:15 AM If there are roster concerns, we have 6 WRs on the active roster right now. He better start performing or he will be the one released (if the cap allows). Rajmahal33 09-19-2007, 08:52 AM I don't expect Thomas to be back this season and even if he is, there is no telling what kind of shape he will be in physically...it will take a game or two after he comes back to get back in playing condition. I think we should take this opportunity to get a young guard (with promise) and develop him over this season, with the intention of eventually moving him to the left side. That way when/if Thomas gets back this season we will have depth as well as a future prospect to start on the left side next year (aka a permanent replacement for Dock). Blue Star 09-19-2007, 07:48 PM Charles Rogers is available yall should go snag him since another experienced lineman is down. LOL LOL Skinner 09-19-2007, 08:47 PM we are SO f***in' screwed!! |
