GTripp0012 09-23-2007, 08:13 PM Well we better get a pass rush going gents for the Lions or they are going to beat us at home for the first time since 1967. To be a true winner we need to be hitting on all cylinders for 4 quarters of the game. It is almost like our coaching staff wants to make it a close game or even to lose it. Gibbs II is looking rather shaky right now. We need a convincing win against the Lions after the bye to get things going. IF we lose to the Lions at home for the first time since '67 we are screwed!!!!!!The Lions are terrible.
We have to look better than we did today for sure, but their pass D is every bit as bad as what people thought the Giants were.
GTripp0012 09-23-2007, 08:15 PM People love to play the "blame the play calling" card after a loss.I know.
It's sad since no matter what play the coach sends in, the offense always has a chance to excute it. The offense should always be held responsible for poor play, even if the playcalling did them no favors.
redskins5044 09-23-2007, 08:54 PM do we know for a fact that gibbs called the plays? why do people call for his head basically just because it LOOKs like a play he would call. How do you know who called what plays? none of us know for sure who call those plays.
joe called the plays in the second or he told saunders this how we are going to approach it. i am fine with gibbs calling plays. we should just get rid of al saunders then. we brought him here to open up the offense and improve from the offense in 2005. 2006 was a diaster. we dont know who called the plays but i think we have seen this playing before and saunders wasnt here yet.
skinsguy 09-23-2007, 08:56 PM Wow, didn't take some of you guys long to turn to gloom and doom! And to already be calling for coaches' heads! That's what pathetic.
Let's get some things straight: Al Saunders calls the plays, not Joe Gibbs. Funny how people call puts the blame on Gibbs when the offense suffers. Wasn't it Gibbs' play calling that got us into the playoffs a couple of seasons ago? Not Al Saunders. Stop with the petty finger pointing.
Paintrain 09-23-2007, 09:14 PM We didn't match intensity in the 2nd half, that's for sure. The playcalls, on BOTH SIDES left a lot to be desired.. Manning hates pressure in his face up the middle, yet on the rare occasions we did blitz we send pressure from the edges.. Their secondary is piss poor, yet we didn't come out attacking them in the 2nd half..
Not calling for anyone's head or major changes, I expected us to be 2-1 at this point in the season (although I figured the loss would be to the Eagles, not the Giants) but we've got to stop sitting on a 2 touchdown lead and start trying to blow teams away when we have them on the ropes!
Last week Tirico kept saying how many games we've lost under Gibbs 2.0 with an 11 point or more lead (it was like 12 games).. That's a sure fire sign we are not putting our foot on the necks of our opponents!
EARTHQUAKE2689 09-23-2007, 09:16 PM Dont cared who called the plays. We got fucked because this situation should have never happened.
WHY WE LOST
1. The portis fumble
2. The Springs pass interference
3. Rogers not paying attention on the Burress TD.
4. Conserative playcalling for some fucking reason.
5. Betts being in the game at the end.
6. Sellers falling down every fucking time we ran in the 2nd half.
7. Sellers dropping a TD pass on 2nd and goal.
8. Spiking the ball on 1st and goal, WTF suprise them and just go up the middle.
9. We had 25 seonds to calm down and run the 4th down play and for some reason we rushed it.
10. We always fuck up against the Giants for some stupd ass reason.
11. The offense didnt help the defense out, no defense can win you a game when they are on the field for 20+ minutes in a half.
12. 81 yards in the second half.
13. Not taking advantage of 3 good returns by Cartwright
14. The missed FG by Suisham at the start of the game. He could have kicked one on the second to last drive and kicked one on the last drive.
15. Dropped passes (Portis, Moss)
16. Not going to Cooley when the Giants have been torched by tight ends all fucking season.
17. No double moves to Moss when he has vitimized their corners with that since coming to the NFL.
Beemnseven 09-23-2007, 09:22 PM Playcalling didn't lose this game. Saunders was sending in passing plays, but until the final minute or so of the game, Campbell couldn't find anyone open. I was more upset with the inability of the running game to get on track.
The Giants picked one game to step the hell up and play defense, and it was this one. By the same token, the Redskins chose one game to take the second half off, and it was this one.

I could be anal and point out that some of those reasons are just to fluff the list, but the central point is great, there are about 50 reasons more directly related to why we lost than anything that had to do with playcalling.
The playcalling was ANYthing but conservative. The passes just did not work. Period.

The question is Gibbs letting him open up the offense?? I don't think so.

Has anyone ever seen a starting NFL CB with worse ball skills than Rogers? He does realize he's supposed to actually either look for the ball or tackle the man with it, right?
