I don't think we want Gary Clark on the list until Art gets in. Clark is the biggest excuse that the sportshaters... err sportswriters give for Monk's absence.
I've never been to the HoF though I have driven through Ohio once. I would consider going up for the ceremonies if Art and Darrell got in, though. Anybody ever been to one before? Do you need tickets or something?

Wide receivers Cris Carter and Herman Moore and cornerback Darrell Green are first-year eligible candidates among a list of 124 modern-era players, coaches, and contributors who make up the preliminary list of nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2008.
If Herman Moore makes it in before Art Monk, the HOF needs burnt to the ground.
(after all of the good stuff is removed, leave the Dallas crap in)
the guys at harry hog football have some stuff through cafe press vote art HOF good stuff and on the Hogs.net they list the email and snail mail addresses of all the HOF voters. Write them a letter and present them with the facts.
it's high time he is in. Him and Green this year would be a wonderful thing.

I totally agree with you Buster.
D.Green should be a first year lock. But do you think that might hurt Monks chances again this year? Have two players from the same team ever made it in the same year?

Yep, several times.
I think the last was 2000 with Joe Montana and Ronnie Lott. A ton of Cowboys went into the hall in '94.

Honestly, if either Moore or Carter get in before Monk it will be prime evidence that the HoF voters are hypocrites.
Monk has better numbers in every category than Moore, and Carter has gaudier TD's and marginally better receiving yards, but won a whopping 4 playoff games in his career and never even WENT to a Super Bowl.
The worst thing they can say about Monk is that he played on a team with a lot of other talented players, so he wasn't the star of the offense. And considering the fact that this is true and he still finished with numbers as impressive as he did, says all you need to know about the man.
Plus, regardless of the situation, Carter should NOT have been talking as a journalist about Monk's chances in the HoF when he knew he himself was going to be eligible the next year. If Carter makes it and Art does not, it will prove once and for all that the voters care more about the loudmouths in the loud suits who are on TV, than the guys who busted their asses every week without becoming a self-indulging spectacle.

I thought it was on TV but it was just on the Intarwebs, I stand corrected there:
Ask Cris: Strategic move - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cc-askcris101007&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)
Basically he said that Monk was not the most feared receiver on his team and didn't make a lot of Pro Bowls.
Which, surprise, surprise, are both things that were true of Carter and his Vikings. Except they flamed out in the playoffs perennially. I think it's fairly disingenuous for Carter to answer this question just a few weeks before the HoF nominations come out, knowing he'd be a first ballot candidate. That question shouldn't have been picked for his little "mailbag" at all.

I gotta believe Green is a lock and Monk may just get to ride his coat-tails in as well.
