JGisLordOfTheRings 11-04-2007, 11:30 PM You are what your record says you are.
I agree 100%.
You're only as good as your record.
You know what frustrates me? The startling number of KO and Punts returned for TD's every week. The number this year is SICK! There were 6 this week. Wow. Maybe Devin Hester lit a fire under some special teams coaches to try to do that more.

I disagree. Your record is what matters, but records don't come close to showing what a team actually is. No one seemed to think we were what our record was last year.
All I know is the standings say 5-3. It doesn't matter how you get there.
Campbell17 11-04-2007, 11:35 PM I agree 100%.

That is getting on my nerves, it's exciting once in a while. It happens mainly because a perfect kick, the perfect hole, the perfect block, and the returner takes it in. Now, the only excse is poor special teams.
JoeRedskin 11-05-2007, 12:14 AM If Rackers doesn't hook the field goal, and the Jets don't punt in OT, we would be.
"And if I didn't eat so much, I wouldn't be fat."
5-3 is 5-3.
The Giants beat the Cowboys next week, we take care of business next week and the 18th and it's all good.
Why do some only want to look at the negative side of the "what if" game?
Hey, if Betts doesn't stumble against the Giants maybe we have another win. If Moss doesn't fumble against Green Bay perhaps we have another win.
It goes both ways.

It goes both ways.Yeah, but...
The record is what it is. We are a 5-3 team. At the beginning of the year, I felt we would be .500 at this point so this is definitely welcome.
But independent of the record, this team is what it is. And that's a team who's consistent body of work probably doesn't warrant a .625 winning percentage. Closer to .500 maybe.
We can blame the three major injuries we have, but I still have yet to see the big improvement we are waiting on. We played the 32nd defense today and eeked by ever so slightly. Good job by the ground game today, but it's obvious that the ground game can not carry this team to where it needs to be.
And now I'm getting a bit antsy. The passing game still isn't clicking, hasn't been in 4 weeks, and we are now out of time to correct it. Philadelphia, Dallas, and Tampa on the horizon. Practice time is over, the passing game HAS to be there and now.

Absolutely, but here's betting Gibbs doesn't see it that way and passing drills in practice will be de-emphasized, as they were thi week (I'm betting).
SmootSmack 11-05-2007, 01:39 AM Frustrating is having your head coach bail on you after saying he won't, trading for a 36 year old QB coming off a year where he missed half the season due to a vicious concussion..and then being out for the year again after suffering another concussion, losing your top RB for the second time due to his affinity for weed...and then losing his backup (that first rounder you selected) for the year due to a torn ACL, using the 9th pick in the draft to draft a glorified punt returner whose barely made a dent while the team had so many other needs, blowing 3 halftime leads, losing 4 games by three points or less, and being 0-8 at the halfway point.
Thank goodness we're not the Dolphins
By the way, why is there no thread this week about how we came back from a halftime deficit? Don't care to talk about it when it's the other way around?
dblanch66 11-05-2007, 01:42 AM I don't know if it is just me, but I hated todays game, for obvious reasons. I told my wife all we would do is kick field goals. I hated watching Tom Brady come back and win, and now I hate watching The Cowboys. Football is Frustrating, we don't have an offense, I it seems like I am watching the same painful Redskin football game that I have been watching the last three years.
Turn off the tv and stop bitching.
