SmootSmack 11-06-2007, 08:48 AM Daseal, I'm a bit surprised you're that supportive of Loyd, as I know from reading your posts that you're well informed.
I can only suggest that you look up JLC's Skins insider & read a post he did on Loyd a few weeks ago. I trust his reporting, of course that's up to you.
He said that Loyd was "dropping f bombs" on wr coach Stan Hixon in his first OTAs, was rude to staff at Redskin Park & basically didn't do anything to show coaches he wants to play.
Add to that his tantrums in games last year, his poor history w/teamates in SF and this recent stuff. I just don't see any way to defend him.
Might make a list of worst trades ever some day.
I've heard elsewhere all the same stuff that JLC said...and then some. Lloyd is a strange dude it seems. Sure seems to have the talent but lacks discipline and maturity

If the Skins knew this stuff about BL (and I'm sure they did) why did they ever sign him in the first place?!
Daseal 11-06-2007, 08:59 AM JoeRedskin: I bet if you look at targeted, Yoder has more than Lloyd. Golston has been a beast since his rookie year and getting a lot of play time.
Freddy, I've read the article by JLC. Does Lloyd have problems, most definitely. However, when it comes to game day it seems like he's there, upbeat, and helpful. I have seen lloyd put in some very solid blocks, etc.
Could Lloyd be a total bust, absolutely. I just don't feel he's had a chance to be used like he should be here in DC. I have a feeling he'll be another player that leaves DC and kinda explodes into at least a solid player on a team, if not a very good #2. He has his down side, definitely. His personal stuff is a problem.
I don't want to say I'm completely going to bat for this guy, because I don't know him behind the scenes. Everything coming out of DC media wise seems horribly skewed to me. Especially with Gibbs in office, the double talk is at an alltime high (this isn't a Gibbs bash, it's the truth. He says a lot and nothing at the same time. So does his team.) I just feel that we should give him a chance, it's frustrating never getting a look in the offense, does he blow up sometimes, probably, but I bet the guy just wants to win.
#56fanatic 11-06-2007, 09:01 AM at this point with the way our offense stinks, why not give him some plays. We really need to line up with more 3 wr sets. Dont let the stats from the Jets game mislead you. The Jets are horrible defensively. Against good teams coming up, I think we need to spread them out and run from those sets. 3WR sets with Moss, El, and Lloyd. I still think the kid can play. If we get him in the game and let him get some reps I think he could end up a productive guy. I am in no means giving the guy a free pass. He does seem like a head case. But look at what a happy WR can get you. The other Moss (Randy) , TO both are happy and both are producing. I am in no way comparing Lloyd to either of those guys, but if you have a happy player, then they produce better. that is just todays NFL with the Divas out there. and Lloyd has the attitude of a Diva, just not the stats to back it up. I think for a WR to be productive he has to have the chances to catch the ball. they have to develop a rhythm and he has not been given the plays to get to that point. Our offense stinks with out him, it couldn't be much worse with him??
we can alway wait until the other Moss is a FA next year?
Ahhhh, and now we get to the meat of the thing. He doesn't even deserve the amount of thought we are giving him.
Definitely agree.
Please stop with this madness.

I guess I think he had ample opportunities last year but that, as I said before, he hasn't earned the trust of the guys throwing him the ball. It seems pretty well documented that he gives up on routes he doesn't like. If that's the case, what QB is going to be able to count on him. If the QB doesn't look for you b/c he can't trust you, then you could be standing alone in the endzone and you just won't be seen.
Lloyd has to earn both the coaches and the QB's trust to get an opportunity, he clearly hasn't done that.

Because, like every coach in the league, Gibbs saw a talented guy and thought he could reach him. He's made great strides with the disturbed in the past (Manley, Riggins, et al.) so it wasn't out of line to think he could do good things here. It hasn't happened.

Yup, this happens all the time.
Why do troubled players get 2nd and 3rd chances in this league? It's because they are talented guys and every coach thinks they are the ones that can turn a guy around.
It's not the first time we've seen this and certainly not the last.

I remember what Gibbs did with those guys but as much as I hate to say it, that is ancient history. Gibs was a lot younger and closer to their age. I gotta believe BL would listen to Gibbs when it comes to football because Gibbs is his coach but when it comes to life BL sees Gibbs as an out of touch old man.
I think with all the free agents out there it was very foolish for a team that has barely sniffed the playoffs in 15 years to take a chance like this and give away 2 draft picks for the opportunity to take this chance. Hopefully someday the Skins will look around and see what successful franchises do to be successful.
Stacks42 11-06-2007, 09:38 AM Didnt both Lloyd and El have similar numbers last year? We all thought they were both busts. Well El has been given a chance this year, he has done some great things. Lloyd half assed in the opening game and he is no longer a the viable WR we paid him to be? Put the guy out there, the skins already payed him, even as a decoy, if they leave him wide open.. throw it to him. Christ! Thrash cant get open and when he is, he drops it! But damn Thrash does "fight his guts out" when dropping passes.
