For those of you who like some historical precedent--the Skins were on a three game losing streak in 2005 prior to the 5 game run they had--just the situation they are in now...

Let's just start with one win and go from there.

Let's turn the team over to Greg and let him get Collins in as qb
I feel sorry for our defense this year all that and NO Offense at qb ,rb or receivers

I would feel more comfortable with Brunell leading the 5-6 team in this situation rather than Jason but if Campbell wants to prove something here's is chance...

Reality check... Every game we win from here out is a higher draft pick foregone.

I was as frustrated as anyone after today's loss but that logic is just twisted. As Herm Edwards said, you play to win the game, all the time. With Arizona somehow finding a way to lose to the 49ers today, the Redskins still have a reasonable shot to make a run for the playoffs. The NFC is a complete mess, Detroit has a very tough schedule and seemingly everyone else in the Conference is bunched at 5-6 (Chi, Min, NO, Az, and hopefully Phi). Given their poor conference record (in 2005 the Redskins had a tremendous conference record, which gave them tiebreakers over basically everyone in the NFC) they are going to need help. Luckily they have beaten Det and Arz and will get a shot at Detroit and Minnesota before the thing is over. If they keep finding ways to lose then all these scenarios become the haven of desperate fans grasping for hope, but right now they still are alive, despite their best efforts. Rackers missing that kick against Arizona (and the whole bizarre sequence of events in the desert) saved the Redskins, for this week at least.

You are joking right? If not, that "Camp Scrub" moniker really fits you quite well.

In '05 we were healthier, led by a veteran QB, with a burner in Moss. Our D was the heart of the team and a lot stronger overall. We are decimated on both sides of the ball this season and are playing extremely inconsistent. WE can't seem to put 2 decent halves of football together to play a complete game. We needed to win today and we fumbled the game away and threw a game ending INT at the end. Good teams find a way to win, not a way to lose, and that is also a big difference between '05 and '07. We can get maybe a top 10-15 pick in the draft if we don't make it(playoffs) at 8-8 anyway. I almost hope we go 6-10 to get a better pick since we are not going anywhere.

Fucking beautiful! Limpdick our way into the playoffs because the NFC is a disgrace to the sport and say woopidido. I'm talking about winning as well, but on a more meaningful level. Obviously there are guys who need to move on, so let's give the younglings a chance to show their stuff and start to improve. It helps in the future in two huge ways: betters the up-and-com'rs themselves AND gives the coaches (whoever they shall be next year) a better idea of what this team needs to address in the draft and possibly through FA. Edwards is right, and I am talking about building a winning team here. As I said, none of us expected this to become a rebuild year but who knew that Moss would become a bust, Portis unreliable, and that injuries (among many older players I might add) would obliterate much of the team?

Can we please start to think long term?

Let's talk about the parallels between this season and 2005. In 05 after a promising 5-3 start, including a thrilling Sunday night victory against an Eagles team we hadn't beaten in years, the Redskins dropped 3 in a row. All 3 of these losses were heartbreakers, in which they seemingly defied logic in finding ways to lose. Against Tampa in Tampa they scored 35 against the number one defense in the league, only to fold and let a yellow Chris Simms orchestrate a game winning drive (nevermind that the refs cheated on that two point conversion). The next week was a second-half meltdown and loss to a Norv coached Raiders team that was at that time the worst in the league. Finally, there was a 17-7 home lead to San Diego lost in the fourth quarter, as LT posterized Ryan Clark to take the game in OT.

Go back and read some of the threads from after the SD game. Very similar to what we are reading now.

We all know what happened next. We beat a terrible Rams team, had god intervene against Arizona (what was that guy's name who returned the kick for a TD and blew kisses to the sideline?), and then shit stomped the division to close out the year.

What's my point? We are going to the playoffs bitches, and I don't want to see any of you whining clowns on here ever again after we do.

Hold your head up BSB, I got you!

By the Grace of god will the Skins get in. Gibbs really has to get them fired up. I thought that would have been yesterday in Tampa. I love the Skins more than i should but this stuff is getting old year after year. i think the 6th playoff spot is tied for by l5 teams maybe. Skins just need to go out and start playing to destroy the opposition. No mercy.
